Hey guys. I'm new here and have a few questions. My property is super rough with ruts and holes in southwest Louisiana. What would be the best attachments for me to break the dirt all up and smooth/level it out? I've got a kubota bx2660 and have about 5 acres I want to work up. I'm not looking to plant anything yet. I just want it smooth and level. I do eventually want a small garden.

Thanks,
Hunter

Welcome to the forum! I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice on what implement(s) will work best for you.

My not-so-experienced advice would be a landscape rake but that would probably have to be coupled with some other implement like maybe a disc to break it up first. If you will need to move some dirt around to get rid of high/low spots then a box blade with rippers would be the right partner for a rake.

Iwould recommend a 48" tiller and a 60" landscape rake.

If it is just ruts, a tiller would be all you need to break it up. Let the back gate all the way down and it should level everything out very well. Might take 2 passes going in an X crisscross to pull the dirt all back in the ruts.

What are the dimensions of your ruts and holes?

What type of soil do you have?

Thank y'all for the input. The ruts came from a L series kubota. When I first moved in, I had a buddy bush hog it for me and it was super wet so now its all rutted up. And I'm not too sure about our soil. Never looked into it. It's nothing real hard tho. It's pretty humid down here so that helps.

So y'all believe a tiller would be better than discs?

If you plan to mow the 5 acres, I would try to smooth it all. I disked my place when I first got here. I bet I disked it 8 times, cutting from every angle. The soil broke up into smaller clods each time. And towards the end I was pulling a drag-harrow behind the disk. Now when I mow my yard and get to a rough spot, I kick myself for not disking it 9 times. It would have been easy then, but I'm not about to disk up part of my yard now.

I plan on mowing it all. I feel like I'm on a buckin bull when I mow it right now.

I do for a couple of reasons. The main reason being you don't need as much traction to run a tiller since it pushes the tractor forward. A good quality tiller can till 6 to 8 inches deep with your tractor but I doubt you can get that deep with a disc you could pull.
