We have a 32" Berta flail mower with accessory caster wheels. The caster wheels are great for transporting the mower, and for mowing on ground which is not too steep. When mowing the caster wheels down (in use) across steep slopes the tractor and mower insist on trying to turn down hill. With the caster wheels raised the tractor and mower don't try to turn down hill nearly as strongly.
We've had one problem with the caster wheels which appears to be corrected by an update in the design. The caster wheel brackets bolt to flanges along the sides of the top of the mower, and on the design we received (April 2016) the caster wheels can bend the flanges and tilt to the side. I called Earth Tools this winter and explained the problem to Joel. He knew exactly what I was describing and explained that the design had been updated after we bought our mower. The new design has a tube which runs across the mower and keeps the caster wheel mounts from tilting. Earth Tools sent parts for updating to the new design at no charge, and the problem appears to be solved.
