Bent Stump Jumper

I have a 60" King Kutter Rotary Cutter. I was mowing some brush and ended up crunching a stump with the cutter. I think I set the cutter down on a big ole stump....and, seems I have bent the stump jumper....as its now got _O" clearance on one side and about 2" on the other. I used the cutter some more after running the stump through it.....and I finished cutting the brush. But I did burn a little paint where it "was" hitting the deck....but it is still working pretty fair.

My Question: Can a stump jumper pan be straightened again....or should I just buy a replacement from KK? Anyone know the cost of the replacement?

Hi Foggy...sounds like the cost of repair may increase with the size of the tractor.

When I damage my 25HP Sears...a whole new deck costs just over $300.

I will have to learn better habits when my "tools" cost more

Most times the stump jumper isn't whats bent because where to blade bolts on is about a 1 in thick bar running from one end to the other i would guess u bent the out put shaft on the gear box

If the shaft was bent, that deck would shake something fierce...

Are the blades coming on contact with the deck or is it just the jumper?

Either way, I'd pull every thing off. weather you fix it or replace it, its gotta come off. At least you;ll have a better idea of whats going on.

if the stump jumper was bent like he said where one blade was scalping the ground and the other high off the ground the deck would still shake but to bend the blade bar down on one side and up on the other i dont see that happening no matter what u hit

If the blades are high on one side and low on the other. And not vibrating, you might have bent the mower where the gearbox mounts. I would think a bent shaft or stump jumper would vibrate really bad.

You can block it up and inspect it carefully, turning by hand, and you should be able to see what is damaged. Agri Supply has stump jumpers for $90 and gear boxes for $120. It could also be a bent blade. The parts are cheap enough that it doesn't pay to try to straighten them unless it's the mount that's bent.

kinda like a stump grinder only louder :thumbsup: Ive never bend a round jumpber but on a medium duty bush hog with a oval stump jumper i bent it up so that it rubed the top deck, i just pulled it off and heated it with a tourch and hammered it back into shape and then i hit something else and it bent again.
