Belaus Repower

I would like to repower my Belarus 1770. The SMD 63 engine is leaking water into the oil and blowby is fierce. What options do I have that don't cost an arm and a leg?
Parts for the SMD 63 are not easy to find.

Sounds like it is time to part out your tractor. The last one I saw sell only made 2000.00 dollars with the auctioneer helping. It was 4 wheel drive running with low hours. Cut your losses.

Thanks for the reply. May by it is time to junk it, but the tractor is in decent shape otherwise. If not for the odd bell housing and clutch wouldn't be such a problem. Nothing wrong with the Detroit idea. I had been thinking along the lines of a cat engine myself.

On many engines one can swap different house as what engine to be used for and the clutch disc can generally be used with the clutch of other vehicles if the diameter is roughly the same. thickness can be adjusted with shims / turning of the flywheel. In some cases, one must create an adapter plate, if one is careful, it is possible to create it yourself.
