I just traded for a new truck, and i was able to recycle all the add-ons (floor liners, bed mat, bed cover, step tubes) since the truck is essentially the same, just a few years newer... The step tubes I bought were stainless, and after 5 years they have sandblasted the original matte textured powder coat off the leading faces and a lot of the underside areas - aside from that, they look pretty good since they didn't rust. I'm thinking that I'd like to try a bedliner spray on them and I'm wondering whether anyone has tried here? There's lots of pictures and text blurbs online, but most of the pictures are of nice clean vehicles sitting in suburbia driveways. I don't live in suburbia, and while most of the roads i drive regularly are paved, they are also covered in sand for several months of the year, so there's a lot of abrasive spray up from the tires. I'm looking for any feedback on abrasion resistance.
I'm thinking of line-x. they seem to spray to a decent thickness, and the coating is hard, so I'm thinking it may be fairly tough in this respect? i've had linex in beds before, and it seems reasonably abrasion resistant. I've had it chip out a couple dime-sized chunks when hit with sharp ends of heavy steel bars, but those were not normal use. I've used Raptor clear spray on with a color match paint added in to do rocker panels before, but it's softer, and after a couple years it had started to sandblast through. I'm thinking thicker and harder would be best? Any experiences out there?
