Hello Folks,

so I purchased a BCS740, so far so good, the machine seems to be in good overall shape and runs nice.
As I never owned or used a two wheel tractor I have no clue about the braking performance.

If I lift the unit, the brakes seem to stop the wheels fine, but when the machine is driving, I can't use the brakes to stall the engine or stop it, no matter how hard I pull the levers, the machine keeps pulling.

As I have a heavy 300lbs stone burrier implement, using the brakes left/right as steering support doesn't work satisfying, which probably is caused by the stone burrier's rear-roller.

Is this usual behavior of a 740 or are my brakes somewhat worn or shot?

Any thoughts are welcome!

Many thanks.

They're not stopping brakes, they're steering brakes. Mostly they're for steering the machine while mowing, so are unlikely to give much satisfaction with a heavy groundbreaking implement. If you pull the tires off your machine and look at the little shoes and drums, you'll see what I mean.

Many thanks Bill, good to know the unit is allright, those drums are really tiny.

Cheers
