Battery Chargers

My old Schumacher finally went down, need to replace it with something reliable to maintain everything from lawnmower to tractor including deep cycle boat battries. I have heard the new digital chargers aren't too reliable, any thoughts? would like to spend less than $100.

I use only true battery tenders with that name on them and they are not all alike, take a look and do some reading about them, I have 6 hooked up to my toys and I love them

are you talking about a charger, (10amp from nearly dead recharge)

or a float charger ment to maintain good battery voltage over a long period of time?

Ive got a plain jane charger, little to no electronics in it the way i like it. my previous one had fancy charge controler and it burnt up, meaning i had to spend another $80 a couple of years later.

the one i have now relyes on the person not to overcharge the battery the way i like it.

I just bought a H.F. brand 200 amp charger / jump starter for around $96.00. I have jumped tractor ,cars, lawn mowers .It has worked well so far .

In about 8 days (8/29/07), my battery charger will be one year old. It's supposed to do everything automatically and is well within your price range. It's this one from Sears. I don't know why the don't have a picture on that page, but you can see a picture of it in the middle of the second row of photos here. I see the price is still the same as what I paid.

Are they any good and how long will they last? I have no idea. I've only used it for checking and charging boat batteries. Impressive display, easy to use, seems like a nice one.
