Gents,
Now that I've purchased an L4310, I need a place to store it. I have a 30 acre parcel, 14 acres of which are open meadow. I'm planning on putting a barn on it. The size would be about 24x32 or 24x36 with the potential for putting a loft upstairs in the future. Does anyone know of a good design source? I'm interested in a classic design, either a gabel or gambrel roof, not a steel building. If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
thirdbase

Have you tried BarnPlan.com? Was just there last night and they had about what you're looking for.

Thanks Jag and Mutt,
I have tried out those two sights as well as others mentioned earlier in the forum. Has anyone had actual experience with barnplans either by building one or observation? The only info is from testimonials on their websight. I am hoping someone might have experience with actually building one that turned out well, or being aware of a plan that was successful
Thanks,

Thirdbase,
I've helped or put up quite a few barns. What specifically did you want answered? For what you want what I would do is do a pole barn frame job and then cover it with whatever wood that you want. If you don't mind some beams in the middle then it would be easy with that little of a width to put flooring in and make a floor. Then you would have your loft. You could do either a 2x4 or a 2x6 roof that tied in in the middle and then cover this with plywood and either shingle it with asphalt shingles or wood shake shingles. Wouldn't too hard at all to build what you want.

Last year I built a pole barn. You can see it and the construction story here http://members.aol.com/wvbills/BarnRaising.html

I couldn't find exactly what I wanted in the plans at barnplan.com or any of the other traditional sources, so
I modified a set of plans I got from 84Lumber. The plans were for a 24 x 32 building which I "split in half". I put a 16 foot section in the middle resulting in a 40 x 32 building. With proper structural design of the poles, the center bay of my barn would be high enough for a nice loft.

I researched all of the books on Pole Building from Amazon.com to make sure I had the details right. Just go to http://www.amazon.com and search for "Pole Building".

Best of luck with your building.

Have someone draw up the plans just the way you would like them. I have a construction Co & we do our own plans, but you should be able to find a draftsman for a reasonable price.

Here in Ohio you can draw up your own plans. All I had to do was go to the Building Inspectors office pick up some papers on codes and requirements,no charge. I drew up the plans and only had to make a few changes. This was for a addition and 2 car garage.I plan on doing the same for my pole barn which will be the same size your going for.$$$ saved mean more toys for the boys! Check out these sites: www.abetterplan.com

I bought a set of plans from barnplans.com, and was very impressed by the plans. I bought the 12X16 mini barn to start with, but will eventually build a larger 30X60 barn as well. For the larger one I will build a poleshed, with the proper gambrel " barn " look. My garage was built as a "pole shed, on a floating concrete slab. The construction looks fairly simple (24X54..6/12 pitch) and I will build the other buildings myself.

If your still looking, send me a private email and I'll explain what I have, comes darn close to what you are talking about. Designed and built by my wife and I.
