I stored a couple of Cub Cadet 1650's in my barn. After a year or so, neither one of them will start, and I'm not seeing any spark at the plug. They don't get used enough to wear out the points and condensors. I do see some evidence of moisture in the barn because the way metal rusts in there.

Do you think the moisture in the barn is doing this and any tips to stop it?

Thanks for any suggestions.

How about more details? Where you live, barn floor, walls, cross ventilation and so on. If it is more humid inside than outside I would improve the ventilation.

Middle Tennessee. It's a board sided barn with dirt floors. The ground slopes gradually down towards the barn. There are no battens on the sides so there is some air flow in the 1/2 inch or so gaps between the side boards.

I store my 8 hp kohler on my Gravely in a metal shed with a concrete floor here in Mississippi. I use it infrequently and every time I use it I have to run a file through the points to get it to fire. It's just something I am resigned to. I've heard there electronic conversions for the points but I haven't looked into it.

Could you seal your concrete floor with something to keep the moisture out?
