My new tractor needs shelter. I need a ton more outsidr the house storage space as well. I was wondering what your thoughts are about my options.

I'm looking for something sized about 14 x 24. And I'm too dangerous with a hammer to do it myself.

I could get a shed for a bit more than 9 Grand. Tractor would get a bit of work leveling an area for the crushed stone base

Or I could have a local builder put up a garage for about 17 grand. Tractor would get a bit of work moving dirt around before the excavator comes in.

Now I've looked at the sheds. they do look to be constructed like pretty crappily. But is a nearly 50% difference in price a deciding factor? I like the idea of a concrete Pad and quality construction, but 8 grand is a lot of money!

I had a dutch barn company build my 12X16 on site for less than $3000. They have prebuilt barns on site, but couldn't deliver to my site. Quality is excellent, no particle board or OSB, all high grade plywood, 16" OC,& 2X6 floor joists. Quality differs from co to co, mine is probably cheaper due to location in NC as opposed to MA. Houses the tractor with bushhog attached easily.

Hello there in MA...take a look at this. I would buy it if I hadn't just emptied my piggy bank for the IRS...
Of course you'd have to side and roof and window it...but you could just roof it first then work on the rest at your leisure.

I have been looking in Connecticut at the ads for sheds and garages. In Ellington Connecticut two outfits The Barn Yard and Kloter Farms have stores that sell sheds and garages. From my research the stores are on the same road (at least in Ellington these outfits have stores in other towns too) and must be less than five miles apart. Like you I see a concrete foundtion means thousands more for constructon costs. Right now my CK20 fits tightly in the back corner of my wide but shallow two car garage (it is 27 feet or so wide) with two cars - one car is small. I have other "stuff" and want more space so I can get out of my car without hitting the car door on my cub cadet lawn tractor. The beauty of a shed on 4 x 4's with a pressure treated floor is that I can move it if I do not like where I put it at first. I will get taxed less on it and I guess it is possilbe to move even a 14 by 24 foot shed to another home. I built a 10 by 16 shed at my last house after getting annoyed at what Carefree Small buildings wanted for one. I went to their sales lot and measured their shed and built one mighty similar except I used 2 X 4, douglas fir half inch plywood for sheathing and then T1-11. Fact is when I was finally done I spent a lot of time and more money than a planned and reckoned the next time I would pull out my credit card and savings and buy one outright and have it delivered. I'd be curious if you find a good shed seller to know the name and locaton so I could check out what they are selling. If I was to go to the trouble to pour concrete what the heck I would go for a three car garage probably. Good luck in your decision making.
