Any sign that the dealers are getting hungry and cutting better deals? I figured with winter nearly here and the economy cooling down that maybe prices would drop some.

There have been several interest rate drops in the past year, but I have not seen Kubota Credit dropping interest at all. My brother-in-law called the other night and said he heard John Deere was getting ready to offer very good reduced interest rates, but I haven't seen that yet. Anybody been shopping and notice anything like that latey?

Talked to my dealer Monday. He has sold almost all the tractors he has in stock. This year he is down 25% from last year's sales. Last year was best he has ever had in 16 years of owning business. He would offer good deals if he had tractors to sell.

JD dearlers have tractors setting on their lots around here. That may because there are 3 of them within 10 miles of each other.

Gee, I thought the 4.9 for 3 yrs was pretty good. But I guess I'm so used to getting creamed on cars that I would. As I said in other threads the dealer nearest me seemed to have no real interest in selling a tractor though they had one sitting there. We came to what I thought was a fair agreement on price and then he realized he didn't have a set of the tires I wanted. He offered no solutions to the problem other than I would have to outright buy the set I wanted. I told him to check his orders and let me know if one was coming in with the tires I wanted. 3 weeks, no call! I ordered from Carver online...no sales tax, excellent response to problems and my choice of tires. Also, I was told if I didn't like the type tire I chose that I could trade them in. Definately a sharp contrast.

I believe currently that JD has 0% for 12 months; NH has 0% for 36 months and Agco has 0% for 24 months. So far, no 0% rates from Kubota (other than a special no payment option until April '02 on lawn and garden units). My local Kubota dealer maintains that his sales haven't dropped off at all. A 0% rate for 24 or 36 months from Kubota would make me move quickly on my new B purchase (hint, hint - Kubota bean counters). Currently, I'm dragging my feet until I sell a few of my "other" tractors.

0% for 36 months would definately let me purchase now. My silly wife thinks the kids need shoes, clothing and food more than I need a new tractor. The kids look like they could last a while without food, they could wear clothes with holes, there are holes where their feet come out anyway and going without shoes is a lot more comfortable.

The 0% for 36 months is one of the reasons I'll soon have a shiny new New Holland parked in my barn and not a Kubota. I originally started looking at Kubota but couldn't fight the 0% interest!

I agree, Mike, and I'm sure you're not the only one. Apparently Kubota doesn't get it - I wonder how many sales they'll have to lose before they attempt to be competitive on financing. 0% interest for 3 years equates to thousands in savings and helps spread the impact of the purchase price, if you don't have the cash laying around. And even if you did have the cash, it allows you to hang onto that money and invest it into somthing else to (hopefully) make a little money over the next three years. Just my two cents worth, so value accordingly.

$20,000 financed over 3 years means that you'd save about $1,500 with 0% v. the current Kubota rate (4.9%). If I liked the tractors equally than the difference in finance rates would be a big factor, but I can't see not buying my first preference if I felt strongly enough about it. It's not a huge difference if you're keeping the tractor for many years, and 4.9% is pretty cheap money too.

Mike,
Was the 0% for NH limited to larger tractors (well not
compacts)?
It seems the 0% is limited to greater than 30 hp machines.
Anyone know who has 0% for compacts?
Thanks

Matt,

It begins with the TN-series tractory from New Holland, which start at 42 PTO HP through 62 PTO HP. My discussions on this list were leading me to a larger Kubota, M5700/M6800 size, so the New Holland fit right in there at that size. You're right though, it won't help you out on the more compact tractors like the New Holland Boomers (although I believe the older 2120 is included). I think they've got 2.9%? financing going on for these other models? Check out http://www.newholland.com/na/valuebonanza/Valubonz2.htm for the whole list. Time is running out on this as well...
