Well, I'm sure just like most of you here on this board you lurked around for a while gathering info and waiting for that right time to "make the deal".

Well that time for me was at lunch today. The Kubota dealer is a short drive from where I work (which is very nice), and I stopped by for the 3rd time in almost as many days. Small family business, been there for years, recommended by some one at work ... anyway .... worked out a deal for a
- BX23
- 54" MMM w/multching kit
- Snowblower
- 16' 9,000 lb gvw tamdum trailer
- chain hooks

I believe that I got a good deal ... maybe not the lowest price, but when you have free access to the machanics and can ask them questions with no sales people around, I believe you can get the good dope on the machine your buying. Also, since I am a New Hampshire resident, you would be suprised that I am purchasing from a Massachusetts dealer!! They had the best price of the 3 dealers I went to (two in NH). It is nice to know if I need service I can drop the machine off in the just minutes from work, then pick it up on the way home (nice to have a trailer).

Can't wait to pick it up next week and spend the day at Kubota Accadamy 101 ... they won't let me take the machine until I know how to remove/attach/work everything.

Unless you have a specific need, I'd change the deck to the 60". Those extra couple inches past the tires sure do help when mowing around things. Enjoy!

If you are a NH resident you might want them to deliver it (likely for free)
and avoid the MA 5% sales tax. Technically they need to add sales tax if
the point of sale is in MA.

Good Luck with it! If you find you're not using that trailer I'd be very happy to come get it out of your way /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes I live in NH, but since I will deliver it to my self ... there will be no tax, just like buying a car in Mass if your a NH resident.

The trailer is a must for me since I will be traveling at least once a month to other sights, especially to my Gun Club to cut the 100/200/300 yrd range (gotta keep the range clean for us CMP shooters).

I have a little over 2 acers so mowing just a hair over 1 acer, but the wife wants a rock wall and I have plenty of nuggets in the ground that need removal ... I figure a tracter with a backhoe is WAY CHEAPER then back surgery and a wheel chair.

Also my neighbor and I have at least two grappel loads of wood dropped off a year (12-13 cord) for our own use and for sale (nothing like firing up the Sthils on a cold January monrning and climing the wood pile). The new tractor will help in pulling down logs without worrying about snapping my leg in the process.

I also have a 8K GVW dump trailer that holds two cords of wood or 3 yards of whatever ... but the trailer is only 10' X 6' so the new tractor will not fit.

Should be picking it up next Friday ... I'll try to get some pictures, but will probably need help on how to post them.

It makes sense. But then again the MA DOR has not had a history of
sensible behavior. BTW, is the dealer Toreku down around Harvard?

Yes it is Toreku in Harvard. Very nice people from my dealings with them and two people here at work have had dealings with them for years ... it is nice to get a review from people you know and work with.

One thing I noticed was that they said (as well as other dealers) was that if anything had to be ordered ... like a new machine or the trailer ... I would be charged an 8% steel surcharge. Good thing they have plenty in stock. I would hate to see the prices of these things this time next year ... let alone new car prices next year ... yikes!

You'll love the little beast, just a couple of questions though. Was there a reason you went with the 54" deck over the 60", and how is the VW diesel holding up, I want one really bad, but have heard they have reliability problems, I sure would like to know that's not true.
