Ballast ballast weight ck35

Evening all, My first post.... I have two drums/ barrels that i can use to build a counterweight for my ck35 hydro. One works out to 312# with concrete and the other works out to 540#. The rear tires were loaded w/ rim guard to somewhat over half full according to the dealer. The rear end gets a little light with wet dirt in the bucket and that tends to make things just a little squirrely going over uneven ground... even traveling very slow! I understand that 540 is more counter than 312 but I don't know if I even need quite that much?? Any thoughts?..... Thanks, arcspark

Somebody must have an opinion.... How about you other ck35 owners. What do you use?

fill both....use the lighter one and if it is too light then go to the heavier one. You are making this more complicated than it needs to be.

I have a CK25 with 750 lbs on the 3PH plus 250 lbs + of cab. Too heavy for wet lawn but not too heavy for loader work. Don't have filled tires. This tractor is already heavy for my lawn.

warren, appreciate the reply...I don't find it complicated at all. I just thought someone could answer the question from experience of owning or trying, to save me from having to do it twice. Just trying to gather some data, that's all. I have some of the larger ballast project parts built now but started to wonder if the heavier setup might be a liability going up hill with an empty bucket. Pa. ground tends to be sidlin' from time to time gettin from one place to another. You must know how it goes... Lots to do and too little time so I was lookin to save a little... Thanks for the response anyway

The KB2375 bh is supposed to weigh around 700#. This is the same as Donnelly's suggestion from the website. With the bh on, the fl can take as much as it can hold/lift. I have a back blade that weighs around 285# and sometimes I can feel the back light with a full/heavy bucket of gravel or sand but it's not squirrely. My rears aren't loaded. If you're going for full capacity on the fl, I think the 540# would be perfect. Going up hills with the bb on doesn't effect the front at all. So if it's hills you're worried about, I'd stay with the 312# and just not max out the loader. By the way, mine is a Ck30hst.
