Wanted to design ballast box that was maneuverable and that I could add and subtract weight if needed. Started off with 1/4" flat plate and welded on I beams, draw bar, and brackets for top link. I then got 10 pieces of new rail road track from a company that is in the business that was already cut to 30" I figured I needed about 600-700 lbs for what I am doing. The frame weighs 150 lbs and each piece of track weighs 100 lbs. I added 5 lengths of track for a weight of 650 lbs. All of the weight sits on the bottom plate keeping the weight as low as possible. It has worked out perfect so far and I have 500 lbs more if I need it. Of course I had to buy a paint gun and paint it to match my new tractor.
