We don't have any here, but I used to enjoy hunting them in California.
One of the best things about them is the sounds they make. The call of a pheasant is just one of my favorites!!!!

When I lived in Coupeville Wa, there was a pheasant farm just down the road and I always had them in the field... shoot, open the truck door and they would practically jump in!

Just about nothing has scared the bajeebers out of me more than taking a quiet walk in the woods and scaring up a pheasant right at my feet! YIKES!!!

You made me laugh reading that!! That exact thing happened but it was one morning as I was half-asleep, I opened the front door to go out to the car on the way to work, and the two of them whooshed up right in front on me! Almost instant heart failure.
