Hello, I'm new to the forum so go easy on me....

We will be redoing our 2 acres' landscaping starting this month. It will be a couple years project and I may want to take the whole landscaping thing a bit further when I retire, and go into business with a freind who is a lanscape architect. I wanted to start with a nice compact tractor, and we all know Kubota is king in this area...so

I found a very nice bx2200 for sale with FEL, only 260 hrs and always garaged. It looks and runs like new. But I have to have a backhoe and from all Kubota's documentation, they never made one. I saw an older thread here on the forum on the Woods BH6000 series hoes, so I need to know if that is the best/only option or is there an alternative ?

What price ranges am I looking at?

Does the bx2200 seat spin around for operating a hoe, or are there hoes with built in seat, etc?

Thanks for any advice, I really want this tractor because Im not going to find a better deal but I have to have a backhoe....

The Woods BH6000 is probably your best option. Those that have gone with the Woods have posted many positive testimonials. The only negative is that the std BX fixed ROPS is a tad low and a tall operator may hit his head on it.
The Woods BH kit comes with an adapter that allows spinning of the seat around for BH operation.
Theres several posts on the Woods including what the costs were. Seems like they avg's anywhere from $5000 to $7000.

Unfortunately Kubota doesn't make a kit to adapt the BT600 to any of the none TLB BX's.

If you are looking at different manufacturers, make sure to price a BH with a sub frame. Theres been quite a few posts here of 3PH mounted BH's busting rear ends....

You are correct, you can not buy a back hoe for this tractor from Kubota. I just got a Woods this spring for $5200 installed with pick up and delivery. It was all done by my Kubota dealer and as far as I can see there are very few differences between the Woods and the Kubota BH offered on the BX22. I've never had a BH before so my comments on it's capabilities vs. other BH's would be worthless.

Good luck! I really love my BX2200!

Thanks guys. I got a Woods dealer search for the 10 closest dealers to me and I'll be calling today for quotes. I'll report back what I end up with and how miuch it costs, then I'll try and post a pic when I get it all put together.

Does anyone know if there are other sub-frame designs other than Woods that I could check on?

I thought Buhler made one, but I just checked their website and couldn't see hide nor hair. I have the Woods BH6000 and its real nice. The seat arrangment is kind of flimsy and it sure would be nice to have the Kubota seat. I went to look at a BX24 after doing mine and the Woods, basically, just free wheels around and is secured by your weight and the manner in which the revolving plate rests in the OEM seat frame. The real Kubota seat actually locks in place.

Oh, one real nice feature of the Woods is that it has hydraulic dampening at the end of the boom sweep. The Kubota just has rubber stops.

Given that the BX24 was about $3500 more than the BX2350... and a Woods is around $6000... those are some pretty expensive dampeners... ;)

I know a guy that has a big Woods on a JD 4410 - works slick... for an aftermarket product it's quite nice as far match up to the tractor. Not "quite" as slick as my BX24 unit... (he hates the seat too) - but it digs like a champ.

My only input - absolutely avoid the 3PT BH setups... they will ruin your tractor sooner or later.

You may consider buying a small excavator rather than adding a backhoe to a BX. For $6,000 you'll get a pretty good used one. You'll get a whole lot more work done with an excavator and two people can work together on a project. Just an option. I had a 450 foot 4 foot deep trench to dig last fall. I looked at adding a back hoe to my BX 1800 but bought the small excavator instead and was so glad I did. The back hoe on my BX would still be digging that trench today. The only time I tried a backhoe on a BX tractor I couldn't get it to dig into the ground with gusto. Just kinda scratched the surface. The first time I tried the excavator it dug into the ground right up to the top of the bucket with no effort. The other option is to rent the small excavator. They cost less than $200 a day and you can get a lot done. It really does depend though on what you plan to do with the backhoe. Lots of folks do get whatever they need done with the BX backhoe though.

I am very pleased with the BH6000 on my 2200. I am 6'6" and have no problems with the ROPs.

Great inputs folks, thanks. This place is a wealth of experience and I'll be hanging out here a lot.

Turns out the prices here in Idaho are ridiculous for the BH6000. There are no quotes under $6k (just for the hoe, no insallation) and most are over $7k.....BUT, I called Sacramento for Tractor which has been mentioned on this board and they quoted less than $4500 for the hoe and they're working on the shipping. The sales guy has even offered to drive it up in his pickup if I'm willing to wait a few weeks because he's coming up here.

This shop will be getting alot more of my implement/parts business from here on out.

Go to the main search page. Run searches in this thread and the other Kubota thread. Set the time frame to all posts. Use "BX6000" as the search term. You will find 6 or 7 threads with hundreds of posts for this bh.

Look for more than those 10 dealers. Some places that are not tractor dealers handle Woods and typically charge more. They may not be able to mod. your BX as well. Some can sell the bh, but do not even have the tools and expertise to mount the bh. Also, the greater the total volume a dealer does, the greater the discount Woods gives the dealer. Woods charges shipping to its low vol. dealers, but not its high vol. dealers. These 2 reasons are why price quotes for this unit have ranged from $4k to over $8k.

There is nothing else for the BX that is even worth considering. This bh can also be put on JD, NH, MF, and CC subCUTs. TBN member blackmajikwoman has a long thread with numerous photos of it operating on his BX1500.
