Well I'm glad my dealer didn't know that when he sold me our BL4690B backhoe ...... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Bought it from him, financed it through Kubota, and they drop shipped it from the Columbus warehouse to a commercial rental property that I own. Neighbor and I went and picked it up in his p/u truck. I used the FEL on our
B2910 to remove it (disassembled, several pieces) from the back of his truck and then assembled it myself in the old shop here at the house.
It was a bit of trick of doing it - I used a 1 ton chainfall attached to a frame made of 4 x 4's to lift it up and hold it upright for assembly. It went more or less fine ..... other than the fact that the chainfall was hooked to the 4 x 4's by just a screw eye which was screwed into the 4 x 4's (I wouldn't recommend this) ...... that was somewhat scary .... although I took alot of care to block it up as I was lifting it. Kubota recommends a gantry type crane for doing this.
My neighbor had to help me install the dipperstick on it, due to the weight. He managed to smash a couple of fingers when we did that, fortunately not to badly.
The 'hoe is heavy enough that you will definitely want a
secure way to lift and hold it upright - if it fell on you it could easily maim or kill you.
