I am looking at a Kubota L3400 and I would like to purchase a backhoe
with it. One dealer is quoting a BH75A backhoe and the other dealer is
recommending a B4672A backhoe. That dealer stated the the backhoe is easier
to connect and disconnect and is better because it connects to the power
take off. Could anybody give me some advice as to which one to purchase.
There is certainly a difference it price.
Thanks

4672 is a 3pt BH. The BH75 is submount.

The 3pt hangs off the back of your 3pt hitch. Same as mine. No problems. Lots of guys on here don't like em (3pt) but I've never had a problem. There is one famous picture always brought up here where the rear dif got torn apart. That's probably from a defect in the metal more than anything else and it's the ONLY picture I have ever seen of damage to a machine. It's always posted by the hard core sub frame lovers.

Kubota sells the 4672 with a HUGE top link and braces that bolt it pretty well to the rear of the machine. It also is fully covered under warranty (as long as it's properly installed) It's not as solid as a sub-frame mount by any means but solid enough for everything I've thrown at it.

The 4672 is also self contained, has it's own pump (run off the PTO) and fluid supply. I think the 75 has quick connects and runs off your tractor hydraulics so more chance of contaminating your machine. The 75 will dig deeper I believe, but I'm not sure how much more deeper. The 4672 has a 72" dig depth. The 75 might giver you problems with other attachments like a MMM, but I think they were looking into fixing that. I think the newest version now is the B76.

If you just need a BH for light to medium work and the price is good, I'd go for the 4672. If you have to dig in rocks or stumps all day then the BH is probably better. Again though, my 4672 has taken everything I can throw at it with no problems, including huge stumps!

Reason I got mine is that the sub frame would not allow me to install a MMM so I opted for the 3pth.

Hope this helps. :)

Hate to offend anyone, but if you have a choice and the price is not that much different, it is better to go with the Kubota subframe model.

I have the BH75A for my L2800 and couldn't be happier. Its hydraulic power comes from an extension from the loader's hydraulics. It works very well and leaves no desire or need for a PTO pump. Removing and installing it takes only a couple minutes, especially after you do it a time or two. The hydraulics do all the work. It lifts itself off the mount, all you do is pull the pins, drive the tractor forward a few inches and disconnect the hoses. There may be others who will but I would never recommend a three point attach backhoe for a cat 1 hitch tractor.

It also depends on what the primary function of your tractor will be. If you are planning on using the machine primarily as a tractor (frequent use of the 3-point hitch with various implements) then try out both backhoe attachments before you buy either.

However, if the main purpose of the machine is to do backhoe/FEL work, have you considered the L39/L45 TLB line. The hoe can still be detached in order to use the 3-point hitch.

I can tell you from experience, if you are mainly using the tractor as a backhoe, it gets old real fast to have to keep getting off the tractor then climbing back onto the backhoe seat (this applies to either the 3-point or the sub-frame hoe) just to have to climb back off the hoe seat and back up to the tractor seat every time you need to move the machine. The turn around seat and pass-thru cab of the L39/L45 series will make a huge difference in your comfort and the amount of work you get done.

However, if you do go with a backhoe attachment on a regular tractor, I personally would recommend the sub-frame over the 3-point unless you need the mmm.

According to my dealers when I was buying my BH last year the B4672A was discontinued. It's smaller and weaker than my Woods. If it will be rare use I'd get the B4672A if I saved several grand. But it seems small for your tractor.
