Backhoe Backhoe question for Ford 8N

I was wondering if anyone could point me in a direction. I am interested in putting a backhoe on the Ford8N I own. I was wondering on what size could I use. Is there a limit on the size...I know I don"t want a 11footer but thinking something in the 8foot range. Would that be too much for the rearend. I was thinking of buying a 3 point hitch one but build some type of subframe for it so it would be more stable? Is that a good idea? Is it too large for a small tractor like the 8N. Thanks for any help or ideas. Also I read that there are some links out there about subframes, I haven't had any luck finding them. Point me in the right direction...also I plan on upgrading my tractor some day in the near future, but so far the 8N has done me great.

Those old 8n's are good, tough little tractors but really not designed to be used as a backhoe. Although its possible to hook one up, it sure would not be a smart idea in my opinion. If you need a backhoe for occasional use it may be better all around to just rent a modern machine. Anyways, just my thoughts.

Try to look for pics of a 'sherman digger'... etc.. and see what size you can attach.

I also found dozens of examples of fergy t0-3X and ford Hundred series with hoe's on them. All those tractors will be in the same basic 'strength' category for attaching a 3pt loader, base don tranny casting and diffiy casting, and bolt/flange size.. etc.
