Backhoe on a 4046

Wondering if I could put a big enough back hoe on my 4046 that could dig 8 feet or would a bigger tractor be needed.for the guys that have back hoes do they work good and how hard are they on 3 point hitch and the arms ect. Thanks richard

the factory back hoes are frame mounted, not the 3 point setup which makes it a very strong setup. I really like mine, it is very responsive and does a good job of digging. We have very hard red clay and sometimes it takes some effort but it gets the job done. It only digs to 90" which is just under 8 feet. it is setup with the tractor hydraulics and it has two pins you pull to remove the unit. pretty easy and very solid. I put mine on a 4 x 6" lumber frame so I just drive over it, pull the pins and drive away. this way it isn't setting in the dirt. it also helps getting aligned when putting it back on.

I also have a LS backhoe on my R4041h and the digging depth is 7.5'! It is not a powerhouse by any means but certainly gets the job done! As whispering Oaks said it is super easy on and off! I'm glade I have it and has already paid for it self if you figure in paying someone else to do the work. You could get an 8' through wood or some other name brand but you also going to pay a premium for it! Whatever you do don't get a 3 pt mounted one as I hear nothing but horror stories! Good luck!
