Backhoe Backhoe hose couplers won't mate

I'm I'm wondering if I should upgrade all my 758C BH hoses to the next diameter size since the rubber already scuffed in several places with only 175 hours use.

Don't worry about scuffing. The rubber on the outside of your hose has nothing whatsoever to do with the strength of the hose. It's the inner steel braid that gives the hose strength. The rubber is more to protect things from being scuffed by the steel braid than it is to protect the steel. If you wrap some protective netting around your hoses where they rub, you won't even scuff the rubber. The netting similar to that around the FEL hoses is available from Surplus Center.

BTW: If you want to have spare hoses, that's a great idea. I just don't want you to worry because the outer rubber is a little scuffed.

Jinman. You might have something there. I have used this method on my VFDs Hydraulic hoses for 15 years and it has always worked. But you brought up the sun pressure, I was thinking more of one line getting all the pressure on the male end. I have never had a female end pressured it always seems to be the male. It would be best to have a bleeder valve in the extension hose that I could crack open, release the pressure, then uncouple my extension. I think I even have an out of service hose I could try it on.

Jim; Thanks re/ rubber coating info. Ill get the mesh. A NH service mechanic told me BH hoses rupture or leak earlier than other NH CUT hoses due to repetetive wear + bending at the BH joints. I can't see the hoses inside the arms and joints. Scuffing and exposed metal braid is visible at open areas like behind the seat wall down below the PTO arms and up forward where subframe pins to tractor frame. These areas have no mesh cover, so I'll provide it.

Pat; make 'em up please. I'll buy one! Might be a hot cottage industry. Oops, firemen don't need hot cottages. Or, a list of components + sources would help. BTW, it was a female BH coupler joining hoe to tractor at the rear that I had to depressurize. Tractor was alright. Next time I'll put BH base down on a wooden pallete so it can't pump itself up dropping down on stabilizers.

You guys got me thinkin now. (Imagine that)

Does anyone make a connector that we could attach to our hoses that has a bleeder (built into a male-female coupler). Jinmans idea is great. But I'll lose the darn things or get them dirty. Lately I've only been using the BH a few times a year. If it was something I could just attach and leave on for alittle more cash than a female fitting, I spend the extra money.
