Backhoe Backhoe for Kubota L2800 ..

Hey all,

Just got a price on a new Kubota BH75 backhoe for my L2800 tractor and it came in at $8500.00 CDN including taxes.

I want one forsure as I would get endless use from it on my 40acre hobby farm. Anyone have any info on building one from scratch, drawings, material, pricing etc ?

$8500.00 CDN sure seems like alot of money for one.

I just paid 6,300.00 for one 2 weeks ago. Not sure what the exchange rate is nowdays. Some folks here prefer the Woods BH 80X with the curved boom and optional thumb cost more though at least in my area, seems it has a little more reach but about the same digging power the best I recall.

There have been some post about bent dipper cylinders on the BH75, I think Kubota has beefed it up to help stop this. On the other hand a gentleman on here posted info about the Woods damaging the tractor at the attachment points

The little I have used the BH-75 I have been pleased the short reach can hinder you in some situations but to the best of my knowledge you can not get a lot bigger on these little tractors due to their size..

I have an L3400 and just purchased the Wood's BH80-X with PTO Pump, sub-frame with 16" bucket and Thumb. The "Cookie Jar" is empty for now, but all is a lot easier for the work load and seat time is great!

Whatever B/H you get, also get the sub-frame, your tractor will Love you for it!

with Hydraulic stabilizers you're looking at about $3500.


I have a smaller unit from this company, which a schoolteacher in southern Maine built in his garage. It has it's limitations but I have done quite a bit of work with it.

PS; the attached pictire is from the CadPlan website. I WISH my tractor was in such good shape.

I looked at the hoes that would fit my Kubota (L3410) and the prices.

Bought an old Ford Tractor/Loader/backhoe. I went too low in price ($3000) and had to do repairs. But, if you look around you can find good machines in the $6000 - $8000 range that need about nothing. They will be 3-5x the machine of the BH75. Ford 555's and Case 580's are good machines.

If you have the capabilities to build a hoe from scratch, you probably have the ability to spruce up an old TLB for about the same $$.

Thanks everyone for the replies.. Some good information in this thread. I called my woods dealer in town and the price for the BH70-X came back at $1189.00 CDN ! Apparently the loader is a little more but the mounting kit is where the big price difference is. Unless he quoted me wrong I think the mounting kit was around $1300.00 CDN then another couple hundred for the hose kit etc..

From everything I've read the woods is a better product then kubotas. However due to the current budget I'm going to go with the kubota model.. I'm also planning to try making one from scratch for my b6200 over the winter. Being a smaller one it may only cost a couple thousand.
