century 2535
it seems to me that the century/branson tractors could handle a larger backhoe. has anyone put a larger backhoe with a subframe on a century tractor? if so, how did it work and how much did it cost?

As of today (or tomorrow) Century is now offering an 8.5 foot back hoe (C-system 86). It is only recommended for the large frame tractors. It will mount on the 2535 but the ground clearance may be a problem. As for price it is probably about 12-18% more than the 7.5 foot unit. Buckets on the 8.5 foot hoe are different as well. They are very HD. but they will not fit on the 7.5' hoe
Hope that helps

I've been researching larger hoes for the large frame Century/Branson too. Their hoes are built by Amerequip as OEM equipment. Check 'em out here. http://www.amerequip.com/backhoes.html
I hear the 8' 6" machine is coming for the Century, if not already. Check with your dealer. I'd sure like to see one. I have no idea what the cost might be.

I don't care to start a flame war here, however, the specs on this new 9.5 Ameriquip hoe are very weak. This is hoe will be fine for limited back yard use and not much more. They state 3450-3730 bucket force and 2250-2435 dipper force. A bradco 9.5 is 5676 bucket, 2754 dipper. Big difference. The Woods has similar specs to Bradco's depending on which model.

I meant to add in I have a Mahindra 4110 model and a Bradco 511 model (11 ft) hoe. The 4110 handles this 511 with ease. The 4110 Mahindra isn't any different in comparable size, width, weight, etc than your 40 -45 hp model Branson/Century. I do have to admit, I would really like the C 50HL loader over this KMW whatever it's suppose to be.

Hmmm, old thread but still of some casual interest.

I picked up a C-86 a few years after the Century collapse.
AmJawa was still kinda/sorta in business with a yard and half a warehouse full of parts.
They were getting into scooter imports, still had a lot of Zetor parts too.
I was able to pick up the hoe, sub-frame and two buckets for $5K even.

FORTUNATE routing and scheduling got me to Harrisburg with an empty horse trailer (other than some manure).
Unloading, not too bad with pallet forks and PATIENCE to do it safely.
NO PROBLEM assembling it single handed and while I can't claim to have used it a LOT, it has certainly been handy.

Right now I am thinking about a thumb for it (AGAIN, this comes up once in a while).
Michigan Iron offer a nice set up, a mechanical thumb that they offer hydraulic upgrade kit for.
The shared bucket hinge pin seems like a good idea, no matter where the thumb is the bucket teeth meet it at the same point.
Here
Anyone here have this set-up ? or any other C-86 and thumb ?
