Kubota BX1500, ZD331
When I purchased my BX1500, I really wanted a backhoe, but the dealer told me there is not one made and I would have to have one custom made, as Kubota does not recommend any current after market manufacturer's backhoes be installed on the BX1500.

With that, i started researching who fabricated custom backhoes for sub-compact tractors. I found what I was looking for at http://www.importedtractors.com but after waiting 4 months (after I paid him, as he required payment in full before he started), I had to seek legal means to get a refund, as the guy just wouldn't seem to deliver to me, but that's a story for another day.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has ever installed an after market backhoe on a BX1500, and were there many limitations of use or was it usable in "normal" conditions. One of the issues with the BX1500 is the backhoe needs to be self contains (i.e. PTO pump and tank). If anyone has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and you might ask, why didn't I just upgrade to the BX1830...well, that would mean upgrading the FEL to the LA211, upgrading to the 54" MMM, and an overall tractor upgrade, which would have tallied an additional $3000, which was beyond my budget. I had a hard enough time to convince the wife that we "needed" the BX1500!

I thought (but I have been wrong before) that the 18xx and the 22xx were the same other than the motor so why would the woods not work on the 18xx?

The BX1500 is nearly the same as the BX18xx, with the exception of the engine, a weight difference of 50lbs, the wheelbase being 2.8" shorter, and the tires are a little smaller. I think I will call Woods tomorrow and inquire. I'll let you know what I come up with.

How much was the total for the entire package? When I bought my BX2200 package, I negotiated the dealer to beat the best of 20 other quotes. He said that he couldn't write up the receipt for less than a certain amount on the tractor itself so he wrote some of the other items at absurdly lower prices to come up with the package price we'd agreed on. Is it possible that this is why your bh is listed at a seemingly low price on your itemized receipt? What does the receipt indicate individually each for the tractor, FEL, BH, and MMM?

I talked to a technician at Woods. He conferenced in one of the engineers that designed the BH6000. They would not give me a straight answer as to whether the Woods BH6000 would fit on my BX1500. The only insight they gave me was that the BX1500 is not enought tractor to handle the BH6000 and would not recommend mounting it. It is mind boggling to me seeing as the weight difference between the BX1830 and BX1500 is about 50#. In any event, my dealer is going to do some experimenting after the holidays for me to determine if the BH6000 subframe can be mounted onto the BX1500.

If anyone has any other insight to this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That really is a good price on every item and for the package. Nobody around here is that low. Do you mind sharing who your dealer is?
