I am wondering, what are all of the backhoe controls called? On the L35 the right stick controlled the swing and the whole thing moving up and down, and the left controlled the lower arm and bucket, so which one is this called? I've seen SAE/John Deere controls, but what the one Kubota uses?

That would be ISO or more commonly, CAT controls... Most of the japanese machines are this pattern standard, though most excavators and backhoes are switchable on the fly from one pattern to the other now.

Thanks.

Do you know of any more companies that use ISO? Isnt the other style called SAE? How about Case or Bobcat?

bob cat on there mini excavators and minni back hoes use left stick swing and boom right stick bucket and stick. stick is the arm the bucket is conected to and the boom is conected to the machine and the stick.
but all this is switchable depending on were the hydrlic lines are connceted to. you can change most any machine to any way you find preferable

Everyone uses both Cat and JD patterns now. All of us guys in the yard except a few odd ducks /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif use Cat controls on our kubota excavators and JD excavators. Unfortunately for guys like me, kubota backhoes are JD patterns and I can't drive them at all. It's either Case or Cat controls for me. The newer G model JD backhoes (310 G's and SG's etc.) all have the two pattern seletion on their units now. Case as well has gone to that excavator style controls with the two pattern selection. What I mean by excavator style controls is, now the two sticks are not in front of you but off to your sides like an excavator, you have a nice comfortable arm rest on each side with the controls. Pretty nifty.

P.S. I think they're called pilot controls...here's an image.
