Backhoe Backhoe Capacity

What is the spec

which tells how much weight a backhoe can lift. I am planning to use the BH for among other things to pick up and move large rocks.

Often it is not specified. Sometimes it is called "craning force".
You can lift much more with the dipper than with the boom.
Any spec should differentiate.

A quick look at a Woods BH90-X shows no craning spec, while the
BushHog brochure shows craning force for the boom for all their hoes.

Just as a reference, Kubota's L39 backhoe is rated at 1000 lb craning. The L39 is a fairly stout tractor/backhoe for a compact. It doesn't take a lot of rock to reach 1k.

Be aware, it makes a _huge_ difference how far out the bucket is. Right next to the tractor it can lift a lot. Extended out as horizontal as you can, it can't lift very much at all.

Lift a 40 lb bag of softener salt next to your knee, and goes well. Put the salt on a table, stick your arm out as far as you can, and see if you can still lift it.....

If you find specs, understand what they are trying to tell you. Near or far, and which is needed by you?

That would be about 10 cubic feet of rock.

As MarkV said about 1000lb. I saw it somewhere and I think it may be as much as 1200lb actually at full reach. I know with my l39 I have used it to lift sime 600-800lb machines out of my truck with no problem at all.
