hi all, well i finally did it. bought a ck20hst. so far i'm really inpressed with the power this little beast has. after 4 hours of loader work i tried the backhoe. there was a leak at the front hdro fittings and the rear fittings so i brought it back to the dealer and it looks like he fixed it. no leaks yet. the question i have is i tried the hoe again today and now the left joy stick does not find center to well so the arm keeps moving very slow downward until i put it in the middle. is there an adjustment to make or should i bring it back? the only reason i don't want to bring it back is the dealer is about 45 min. away and i would have to leave it for a day or two. this will also give me some knowledge as i want to learn about the operations and repairs. if anyone could help i sure would appreciate it. thanks and have a great day, chris

It should go to a neutral detent position and all flow is stopped. I ordered service manuals for mine but don't have them yet. As soon as they arrive, dealer said another week, I go through it and see what it says. My dealer is more than happy to explain how to adjust or correct a problem without having to bring the machine in. It saves him time. Try calling him and maybe he can explain an easy fix. I have a CK30 with a joystick for the FEL. I imagine your BH has the same control.

victor, thanks for responding. i was wondwring if maybe air got in the line when they fixed the leak problem? it worked fine prior to the leak repair. i feel like my dealer is to busy for me now that the sale is over. he was great before the purchase and now he makes me feel like i'm bothering him. i know it is under warranty but i'm beginning to think that is only good for something major. i am mechanical and i want to learn more so i can just fix it myself and know it was done right. also how much are manuals? thanks, chris

Without seeing what is happening I'll take a guess and say that joint where the joystick hinges above the valve maybe dry and sticking. If you pull the rubber up to expose the two joysticks you will see the leverage point and the ball that control the valves. Just lubricate them with something if they seem dry. My two cents worth if it might help.

I would think the air has purged itself by now if you have cycled fully all the cylinders several times. My new FEL took about five full cycles each for the lift and bucket cylinders. Otherwise, it would jerk when it moved but the stick always came back to center. I think Steve might have the answer. Fixing a leak shouldn't have affected the joystick. I hope a little lube is all it needs. Keep us posted. The manual for my CK30HST was quoted by the dealer as 75-80.

We have had them stick also. Just spray with some wd40 or pb blaster and you should be going again.

The first step I always go for is lubricatioin when something is sticking. Left the boot at the base of the joystick and spray those connections, moving the stick while you're spraying. Make sure the bucket is already on the ground for safety.
If that doesn't work, send me a private message, and I'll get back to you. John

o.k. this is what i have so far. removed the boot on left joy stick for the backhoe. there are 3 cylinders (valves). the pattern is 1 on the left, 1 on the right and 1 in the front or 12:00 oclock position. the one in the 12:00 oclock you would push the stick foward. when you let go it does not come back to the middle position all the way causing the arm to slowly drop. i noticed about a 1/4" of play with the cylinder under the lever which pushes down on it. there is no play in the other two. when i push the stick foward it takes a few seconds for the arm to start moving down and when it does it jerks as if it finally engages. i don't know if there is a spring in there or if there is an adjustment. as i stated before it worked fine until i brought it back for the dealer to fix the leaks on the back hoe on the front and rear conections. he said it was orings and that seemed to stop the leaks. still need to keep an eye on it to make sure. i hope i explained this o.k. and would appreciate any feed back. thanks, chris
