Kubota BX2200, '55 Farmall Cub, '57 Ford 640
I plan on using the BX loader and back blade for snow removal this winter. We just purchased a 10 acre hobby farm and need to use the BX for this year only. By next winter I will have my Dad's Ford 640 to do the job.

What size back blade? I assume it would be either a 5' or 6'.

Thanks
Guy

For snow work, go with 5'. For a lot of dirt work, go with 4'. 6' is going to tax that little machine too much in the snow, and would make that tractor completely useless in the dirt.

As a general rule I would say you want something just a little bigger than the rear tire width but going too far is just as bad. What Bandit mentions 5' is the best option.

Have you seen KK's like of subcompact implements. Still cat 1.. but closer spacing ( cat 0? ) specifically for things like a BX tractor.. etc.

I have the their brush cutter. It's not built to bad, it's gonna handle anything my BX2200 will throw at it.

I think it even has dual tail wheels too.. ( neat)

Your right Soundguy it does have the dual wheels. I think that was to stabilize it a bit being the width on these small tractors are so narrow.I did'nt like how the wheels attached so I had to do a slight mod to them, but other than that I'm happy with it.

I've seen them Soundguy, but they actual cost more that the regular KK stuff (at least in my area.)

If I wanted a 60" back blade the reg. KK is heavier and less expensive, because they have to special order the BX stuff. What's strange is I can get two different styles and colors of KK implements around here. The back blades at Fleetfarm have a inclosed triangle that the pins stick out of so you can't turn them in to narrow you attachment points. But if I go to TSC the are a completely different design and color (and you can turn the pins in).

So Soundguy, if you noticed, I resolved my "I need another tractor" problem from my other post. My Dad is finnally ready to give up the Ford 640. He has had it for years and only uses it to plow/till the garden twice a year. He's going to have a MUCH smaller garden after next spring and will just use a lawn tractor.

I will by the 640, bushhog, two bottom plow, tiller and blade from him. Be perfect for the ten acre hobby farm,. Plus neat to have Dad's tractor.

Still would be neat to find that sickle mower for the Cubby though..../forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yep.. the BX stuff is more expensive here as well.

We still have dealers with lots of red KK stuff.. with the yellow moving into the higher volume dealers.

640 is a great tractor..lucky man.
