Hi all. I just purchased a new 28XL with FEL and backhoe...waiting for delivery this week. Regarding the 3 point hitch back blade Mahindra makes, they offer a 5, 6 and 7 foot blade. On the XL with hydro, which one is best for general landscape grading in the summer and snow plowing in the winter? I realize the best answer might be two different sizes, but I'm only going to buy one. Thanks for any info.

I have a 6 footer on my 3016. It could easily handle a 7 footer but I have no need.

My main concern was to get one that was at least the same width of my tractor with the blade angled.

I have a new Max28XL Shuttle. HP wise the shuttle is strong but the tractor needs weight. As currently set up right now it weighs 2,650 Lbs, but I need to ballast it it to 3,200lbs for traction and stability on uneven terrain. Rear is light.

At 3,200 lbs (weight without attachment) a 6' blade will be fine, so as a minimum, load tires with beet juice. and keep loader on tractor. Otherwise get 5' blade.if you are going to keep tractor light for mowing.

Measure the width of the rear tires, and multiply by 1.15 to figure out the width blade needed that will still cover your tracks when angled. Get a blade that width or a little wider (but don't go too wide -- other wise it will be like a rudder and steer your tractor when trying to move snow).

I am pretty sure a 5' will be the right size for your Max 28 based on my neighbor's Max 28, but I have seen them equipped with different size tires, so I'd suggest waiting to see what comes on yours and get an actual measurement.
