At work all our rubber tire backhoes are Ford and New Holland. The other day the 08 B95 with 230 hours just stopped moving. It was being driven and just started coasting. I put a new trans filter on it and did some pressure checks. They were all zero pressure. Drained the trans and pulled the return screen out. It was almost all stopped up. Cleaned it put it back in and put 4 1/2 gallons of trans fluid I got from the New Holland house. Fired it up and it ran just fine for about 1/8 mile. Now you have to get it up to real high RPMs to get it to move. When it does move it feels like the brakes are on. I did bend the return screen up a little trying to get it in but not real bad. I have a new one ordered. Tomorrow im going to replace it and the filter. That was the first time the trans fluid was changed. Could the screen or filter have gotten stopped up that quick? Anybody got any ideas what could be wrong

If your screen was really that dirty your filter could be plugged or internally collapsed. Put the project on hold until you receive the new screen and filter.

I didn't do anything with it till I got the new return screen today. I drained the transmission and pulled the screen. It was caked up real bad again. Put the new return screen in and installed a new filter. I cut the top of the filter off and there wasn't anything wrong with it. Was going to send it to New Holland so I put the same trans fluid back in it. The company owner said since we are so slow I could keep playing with it or some of the mechanics could. A hand at work that worked at a Hydraulic shop for 11 years looked at the screen and said the fluid has water in it. Its going to be carried to our shop tomorrow. I think I'm going to drain the trans. and plug off the vent. Then I am going to try to pull a vacuum on it to boil out the moisture. Or maybe not drain it and maybe run a couple hour vacuum on it.

About thirty minutes ago I realized the front and rear seals and probably more wont hold a vacuum. Some times I come up with some dumb ideas. Maybe just letting the motor idle a long time can get the trans hot enough to get rid of some water.

Ended up draining the transmission and cleaning the return screen 3 times. The third time it had very little stuff on it. The fourth time I let it idle in third gear for almost 3 hours. There was next to nothing in the screen then. We are going to call it good. This is the tractor we hardly ever have used. I did find the hour meter doesn't work.

Had to go to the New Holland dealer for some mini hoe teeth and pins. They asked about the B95. I told them what I did and it was going good now. They said the grey stuff clogging up the return screen was the paint off the inside of the transmission case. Said since we never use the tractor it built up so much condensation that it rusted inside and knocked some of the paint off. Hope this helps somebody I showed our top mechanic the return screen the second time I drained it and he swore it was clutch material on it and the trans would have to be sent out for a rebuild.
