I am considering selling my 7610 to get a bigger tractor. Good tractor, just a little small for my needs. (2 acre yard, 8 acre pasture) I bought the tractor for 13,500 last year. It has a 60" MMM, no FEL, 90 hrs.. My dealer told me that if I sell it I will probably only get $10-$10,500 for it. Does this sound right, and if so why did it depreciate 26% in one year?

I find that hard to believe, unless you have a lot of hours on it.

I am in the process of selling my subcompact with 225 hours in 2 years, 10 months for 71% of what I paid new, and had a ton of interest in a short period of time. I think I may have been able to get another $500 (74% of new) based on the level of interest in it, but priced it for the quick sell, and didn't have to entertain 'offers'. Had a nice cash deposit 3 or 4 days after listing it.

No FEL will hurt you. I think it's a big selling point for a used tractor. IMO the 7610 is a very veristile tractor and there would be lots of people who will want the FEL. Also there's another member's post saying he just paid $15,200 with a 60" MMM and a FEL (I'm assuming new). Even with those low hours it'll be had to compete with 0% finacing and the extra lenth in warrenty plus that 'new' feeling that you get when you buy new. I think if you held out you might get an extra $1000, good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I may list it high and see what happens. If it doesn't sell, I will have to stick it out with my 7610.

OK, now that I think about it some more, without the FEL, someone will have to shell out 2000 or more to add that, so that would put the machine at 12,500+. I think the biggest issue would be the 0% for 3 years on a new one. The majority of folks would rather pay 15,500 over 3 years than 12,500 all at once, or 12,500 at 5% from their bank over the same term, I would think. But, Kubotas do seem to hold their value very well, so if you're not in a hurry, price it a bit high and see what happens. Now's the time to sell a tractor.

It is not so much that Kubotas hold their value but inflation and price increases raised the price of new ones - and used tractors follow along.

The last year or two have seen discounts to help sell and that means you also need to discount to sell. Of course the dealer may want to pay you 10K so he can sell it for 13,500 and talk about holding value.

Adding a loader now will cost more than as part of a package deal. So add 2000+ for a loader, 1500 interest assuming 7.5% used equipment loan versus the 15K someone just paid. Your cost was 1000-1500 for a year of tractor ownership. Narrow the gap by selling it yourself or use it as a trade in.

Many will pay the 15,000 to buy new with full warrenty, only $28 a month more on the three year 0% loan.

it is fairly rough, but the real problem is the time. Also, if I don't mow it every two three weeks I have to go slow to get a decent cut.

I thought about trying a bush hog, but I have been told I would have to run it in low range which is very slow. I thought about trying a 72" RFM, but if it doesn't work I have wasted a significant amount of money.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Any place near you rent an RFM?

Might be worth a few phone calls to save you some $$ to test it before you decide!

A 7610 would be able to pull a 72" RFM but you'd run into trouble if you did not mow regularly. You should be able to do a light duty 60" bush hog without much trouble though. Or, a 60" light duty flail mower like the Caroni. However, if you are really just trying to cut faster you'd be better off getting a bit more horsepower and pulling a 72" RFM. What will the dealer give you on a trade for a B7800 or B3030?
