Yanmar 1300D for now
Hi,
I'm new to the site and in the process of narrowing the field on which machine to purchase. I'm leaning toward Kubota B7x10 because of reputation, but I can't help thinking about the loader lift height and capacity, also position control on the TC26.
Either machine would be setup with loader, mmm, grass vac and front mount snowblower. (yes, I'm getting too old to break my back on yard work anymore).
Has anyone on TBN owned both a TC and a B? Preferences?
If not has anyone used a grass vac or front snowblower on the B7x10? Any info on the performance you can throw my way would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

fdny hick -

I saw you profile says you have 3 acres - but what are your tractor needs?

I chose the B7610 / LA352 FEL over the B7510 / LA302 - specifically because of the more powerful FEL.

I also priced a NH TC24 - which has a more powerful FEL than the B7610 - but it was over $2K more than the Kubota - and I simply couldn't justify that even to myself! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I picked up a 50" 3PH blower last winter - and although we had way less snow than usual - the blower kicks butt. I doubt that there is any "performance" difference between a Rear 3PH and a front blower - they just change the gearbox so the blower turns at the correct speed.

I imagine any 20+ hp tractor will have roughly the same front snowblower performance at @ 50" wide - you might want a bigger (ex TC26?) if you plan on running a significantly larger blower...the NH site says the TC24 model can handle up to a 63" blower (quick attach too!) - but curiously not the TC26??? Here's the link,

I can't comment on grass vacuum performance - other than I'm sure it will work fine as long as grass is dry. My 54" MMM cuts everything but the longest grasses so finely that I don't see a need to rake. I may try the mulching (Gator?) blades if I really feel like spoiling myself someday...

If you can find a Kubota B2410 - you would have the "Deluxe" version of a B7610 - and it does feature position control - whereas the B7610 only has the "quarter-inching" valve. But you didn't list any ground implements - so I'm not sure if you need it....(sure sure - always nice to HAVE it! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

I chose the B7610 because I felt that it gave me the most "power to price" ratio of the 20-26 hp models I compared (JD, Kubota, NH), although I might have bought a B2410 if one had been available - as it has a larger 3PH lift capacity IIRC - but it ran @ $1000-1200 more than a B7610.

Hope that helps,

Dan

Hi Dan,
I've been reading your threads for a couple of months now, very helpful.

The tractor will be used mostly for mowing(about 2 acres finished). Snow removal of my driveway(about 6000sqft, I had it paved last year) and neighbors driveway(about same size). I would use the 50" blower. This year however has alot of landscaping to complete. 40+yds topsoil, stone walls, mulch, etc. Also to level the low parts of my property, so box blade and rake will be used.
I have an old Yanmar 1300D now, but I want to step up to a larger machine thats more user friendly(power steering, hydro). One reason is so the misses can use it to move snow when I'm working(thats what I'm telling her anyway).

With the financing the machines are pretty close in price with all attachments.

I thought I would definitly get a Kubota B until I looked at the NH TC24/26. I really liked the lift height(a full foot higher), it would make loading a truck or dumpster easier. Also was the 3ph control, precision over 1/4 inching.

I'm going on Kubotas reputation so I'm kind of leaning that way, but I would hate to give anything up if I don't have too. Its going to be a $21k bill, I want to get the best and most for the money. Thats why I was asking guys for input on thier machines and attachments. Neil M has also been very helpful, the most communication/feedback I've had with any dealer.

I was thinking about a used B2410, but I wanted to use Kubota financing and wanted the warranty. The B2630 physical size is just overkill for me, although has the same features and specs as the TC. I'm having a hard time justifying a CUT over the SCUT. Anyway thats where I stand. Time is going by and I have to decide soon so I can get some yard work done before the end of summer.

Thanks for the info on the snowblower and the mmm. I'm glad to here positive reveiws from someone who actually uses them. The reason I'm getting the grass vac is primarily for the leaves, fall and spring cleanup. I'm tired of raking or blowing then picking up.

Thanks for the input,
Mike

Ok - great details on what you have planned. Would agree that a B2630 probably overkill for the long-haul....

In regards to mowing - I do my @ 2 acres (quite a few garden beds, trees, shrubs to mow around..) in just over 1 hour with my 54" MMM (I chose the 54" because I need to squeeze through a 60" gate). If you had a "wide open yard" - with fewer obstacles - you might be able to use a 60" - and then I'd guess you'd be talking mowing time in a hour flat - probably even less....

**************************************************

As far as spreading topsoil / mulch etc. ANY of the tractors (B7510 / B7610 / B2630 // TC24 / TC 26 etc.) will handle that easily. My need for the stronger LA 352 FEL offered on the B7610 was because we regularly get good sized rocks popping up through frost heaves etc. - and I knew I needed as much FEL lift as I could get.

For general FEL work that you mentioned - you shouldn't hit any big snags - so unless you have definite BIG rocks etc you need to move about - I don't know if you'll need the bigger FEL of the NH TC2x models....

As an idea of what you can do - I've spread out a 25 ton load (10-wheel dump track) of 3/4" trap-rock (gravel) in @ 2 hours with my B7610.

****************************

Lastly - as far as the snow blower - I can't say exactly how much area I blow with my 3PH unit - but I mostly use it for "mopping up" - because we have contracted someone to plow because I travel on business sometimes.

That being said - I would *guess-timate* that you would be able to SB a 10' x 600' (6000 sq ft) driveway in less than 1/2 hour with a 50" SB (assuming "fluffy-ish" snow < @ 12" deep) - obviously "your-mileage-may-vary" - especially if you have lots of "back and forth" SB'ing to do - but the HST and your paved driveway should make this easy.

********************

Finally - in regards to Position Control - I don't have it - so I'm "blissfully unaware of what I'm missing". I'm sure it's great to have - but I don't have a BB or rake - and so it wasn't a show-stopper for me. I've gotten pretty good (IMO /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif ) at "back-blading" with the underside of my FEL bucket - and smoothing things out that way.

Hope the additional experience info helps.

Cheers,

Dan
