I am doing my first service. The stealer did the 50.The manual as you know isn't too clear on the Hyd.trans and Hyd.part of the service.I know from doing a search there are four drain plugs. Are they easy to find and tell they are a drain plug?Where is the strainer located at?
Thanks in advance,

Tony, actually it isnt that bad,you just have to look real hard at the illustrations to figure it out.I only found 2 drain plugs on my 7610.If memory serves me correct,if you are sitting on the tractor, one plug is toward the front section of the hydro right on the bottom. The other is on the left side, more towards the back. The strainer is actually a banjo fitting type setup
and i'm almost sure its on the right side of the hydro unit.
But,it has been a while since i changed mine so look at your manual
real hard.
ALSO,if your manual is the same as mine you'd better double check with the dealer about refill capacity. My manual was wrong,by about twice the amount of fluid.I overfilled mine and had to drain a lot back out.Check with your dealer about the refill capacity.........hope this helps..digger2

Your 7610 is similar to my 2400, and yes there are 4 drain points. 1st one is on the drop box directly behind the engine. This will only hold about a quart or so, as it's purpose is to drop the output shaft down to keep the foot deck relatively flat. The next one is located at the bottom of the mid PTO output under the trans. The other two are located on the insides ( at bottom of course!) of each axle housing. It's been awhile, I'm thinking they are 17mm bolts and may have red paint on them but don't hold me to that. If you drop the PTO drain first, you'll drain the majority of the oil from there. The other three will be considerably less once that one has been drained. Good Luck!!
PS... The Service manual might be the best investment you make(App$75) Nobody plans to do major work to their tractor but occasionally things happen. I had to replace an o-ring at the axle pivot on mine. the repair took me about 7hrs to do but with the manual it wasn't a problem. Changed the $1 o-ring and didn't pay a dealer for 7+ hours of labor, so the way I see it the manual saved me a chunk of change!!

If it is HST trans and it was changed at the 50 hr mark I don't think you have to change it again until 300 hrs. Also there are 2 at each front hub to drain the front axle. Be sure to drain that center plug first to get the majority out or you will have a mess if you drain the 2 at each side in the rear.

This is from some previous threads that I copied to one file, printed and use as a reference when I performed my HST hydraulic fluid change. It worked out OK for me on my 2004 7610HST except I slipped up and opened one of the plugs by the rear wheels first and fluid came out onto the rear tire first and then ran down which is rather messy. Open that one in the middle first which I think is referenced to in one of the comments below
Take your time and everything will be OK.

Well, the time has come for the 50hr. service of my new 7610. I currently have 49hrs. on it so I think the 50hr service will be happening this weekend.

Is there anything other than the below listed items that I need to do?

4 drain plugs to drain HST oil
HST oil filter
Engine Oil
Engine Oil Filter
Grease hydro pedal/etc.

Any screens, etc. that I need to worry about or is this pretty much it?

There is a screen by the hydraulic oil filter on the right side. It is attached to the "bolt" going through a banjo fitting.

This screen and location is shown in the B7610 Operator's Manual on pages 61 and 62.
Just finished my 50 hr service on my B7500 and I thought I'd post the most useful tips I have gleaned from others and on my own.

1. The plastic sheet under the tractor is a great idea.

2. Removing the 4 drain plugs starting with the front tranny, then the mid PTO, and finally the rear axle plugs is the best method because it avoids high head pressure from the 2 drains below the rear axles. I worked with three different oil pans under the plugs, rotating them and emptying them as necessary.

3. Take a lunch break while the front tranny drains. I drained all 3.3 gallons.

4. The largest hydraulic filter goes on the right side of the tractor in front of the strainer. The smaller (blue) filter goes on the left side.

5. After cutting the paint around the strainer nut with a razor blade, I found that my Craftsman 15 inch adjustable wrench worked really well to remove the strainer. Just be sure to snug it up real well on the nut. I found a few particles on the strainer, but not many. I wonder what the "non-flammable solvent" is that my manual suggests to use. Offhand the only non-flammable solvent I can think of is water! The air pressure idea sounds reasonable. I just flicked off the particles with a piece of paper towel, probably not the best method.

6. Be sure when checking wheel nuts to tighten the nut on the inside of each rear wheel. Mine were loose: no where near 100 ft-lb.

7. Don't forget to adjust the clutch nut. My clutch had too much play. Easy job.

8. All in all, this job is only slightly more complex than changing engine oil, so there's no real reason for someone like me to have the dealer do the service.

Now I think I'll print this so I don't forget it for next time!
