Quick stupid question from someone who has read the owners manual no less that five times but has yet to take posession of my new tractor (mailed the check and finance papers today). When starting the B7500HSD is it necessary to have the gear range lever in neutral or does the clutch make this not necessary. The manual kinda skips over what to do with that lever. Now this will sound really strange but I never test drove the B7500HSD. I did test drive the BX2200 four times and at the last minute went one size bigger (once I talked my wife into it). I know on the BX2200 it does have to be in neutral.

My wife would also like to know if there is a twelve step program to handle my addiction to this web site./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

I don't know if it's necessary but it's a good practice, IMHO.

Jeff,
I agree with you on the manual, not very clear. Mine starts with the range gear shift in High or low if the clutch is depressed.

I know of a two step program.
1. don't pay your ISP bill
2. Wait

Likewise, Lucy starts in Hi/Low/Neutral. Your wife should talk to my wife. She keeps asking me if I'm in some porno chat room or something. I say nope, just tractorByNet. She rolls her eyes. I love her anyway.

We must be married to the same woman! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif My wife goes to bed early but makes the occasional refrigerator run. She'll glance into the living room to find me with my laptop reading TBN. (I only get the laptop out after she's gone to bed!) She smiles and shakes her head.

Jeff, It will start in any position as long as the clutch pedal is pressed down, But as Mike said it is good practice you never know what will happen.

As far as a 12 step program well all I can say is I am just as addicted as everyone else is and my wife just doesnt understand. It was easier giving up cigs, I tell her its a man thing/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

It does start if you have it in gear as long as you have the clutch down.

It won't start if you have the PTO engaged though. Sometimes it's easy to accidently move the PTO lever when the engine is off when you get on or off, so remember to check these levers if, one day, you're trying to start it and it doesn't make a sound.

I never test drove one either (I have the B7500HSD). Easy to operate though.

It starts ih HIGH, it starts in LOW, it starts in NEUTRAL. It only starts with the clutch depressed. It won't start with the PTO engaged either. Lots of safety features built into tractors these days.

Well, Jeff, looks like the owners say it'll start in gear with the clutch depressed. I'm surprised, because the B2710 will not. You must have it in neutral, PTO disengaged, AND the clutch depressed to start it. Maybe it's because the 7500 is a two-range HST while the 2710 is a three-range HST? Although I can't really see why the difference.

Bird, The '95 B2400 I got recently won't start unless the speed range selector is in Neutral, either. It's only got the 2 ranges like the B7500. I wonder why the difference? Oh well, go kubota! Rob
