6/20/01 Just ordered my B7500 HSD with loader and woods brush hog. Hope to get delievery in few days. Live in Vermont and am considering a front blade for snow plowing. Would like some input on changing from loader to front blade.

Jethro,

I've got the next size up from you, a B2410, with a loader. Taking the loader off is very quick, less than 5 minutes once you've done it a few times. Can't comment on the front blade since I don't have one.

Have you thought about using a rear blade, or even a rear blower? The loader is not great for plowing but it is great for cutting back banks and doing clean-up. I plan on getting a rear blade for this coming winter. Also, I wonder if the B7500 might be a little light in front for a front blade and a heavy snow - maybe someone who runs this setup can comment.

Good luck and congrats.

I don't know how a front blade attaches. However, the FEL comes off/on pretty darn quick once you get the hang of it. Less than 5 minutes for sure.

If you need extra weight on the front, you can always fill the tires.

I also own a B7500 and have nosed around looking for different snowremoval opetions. Curtiss makes a front blade that bolts up to your FEL frame. The bucket is removed and replaced with the blade. And you use the hydraulics for the bucket to operate the blade. They have a web site somewhere out there. However, if I recall, the cost was roughly the same as buying a rear 3pt blower ~1500. It too will probably use the FEL until I can free up some money to use different.

As the survey on this site's home page suggests, a blower is probably the way to go. For the amount of snow we get (I'm in southern Quebec), I should think that you would have to add quite a bit of weight in order to plow effectively. People who use plows around my place usually mount them on old beaten pick-up trucks with weight in the back. Then they ram the snow at around 15-20 miles an hour. It also looks rough when they're done - a large pile of snow in the middle of their front lawn.
Re-reading this, it sounds like I'm trying to give you a lesson in snow removal - not my intention as I'm sure you don't need one. Just that if you already have a FEL (for snow banks), I would highly recommend a blower.
Wow, it's June. Snow-talk is kinda depressing.

Loader comes of my B8200 in the time it takes you to take the 2 pins and 2 bolts then get a blade to mount to your loader arms.
