B7500 w/60\" MMM Do I have the wrong PTO shaft?
I bought the tractor in March and didn't attempt to mount the mower deck until now. The guy i bought it from said that when he bought the tractor (used with 40 hrs), he immediately took off the deck off because he had no use for it. I think he may have given me the wrong shaft or he never had the correct shaft to begin with.
I put a floor jack under my B7500 and didn't have much trouble getting the deck in position. When I went to slip the PTO shaft on the deck's shaft, I noticed a problem. The PTO shaft has splines all the way around except for one area where there is a "notch" which is the width of about two splines. The shaft on the deck has splines only, with no notch. Needless to say, I couldn't get them to slip on.
So, can anyone shed some light? My guess is that I have to get a PTO shaft with splines only, no notch. Can anyone confirm. Also, if you have a B7500 with the 60"mmm, how long is the shaft?
