Question about this factory installed 3rd function by Branson?
I heard they are diverter valves not really true 3rd function.
Does it matter and why did they use 2 female connectors at the point of connection instead of one female and one male like all the kits out there?
Do I simply change the fittings to work with attachments?
Also, u push the bottom on top of loader stick then move left or right to open and close?
One comment I've seen said they are junk.

Also, I see a Land Pride 0548 grapple with 2 female connectors?
Do folks just change the fittings to work?

The previous owner may have ordered the machine that way, they could have been swapped out, or it could have been the standard at the time.

Swapping a fitting out to the users preference isn't uncommon.

As for a diverter versus a true 3rd function, it's often also preference; a diverter will let you feather the grapple where a typical 3rd function is just open-close.

Yes this is the way most are set up. They are termed "pioneer" for the pin based fittings and Skid Steer for the flat faced fittings.

The reason for a male and female is to enable the same plug in and "3rd button function" and second and most important IMO is to plug the two ends together once you disconnect them - so the implement you are disconnecting you plug the two hyd lines together preventing dirt bugs etcc.

I see your Branson has two Pioneer female connectors, you just need to get another male connector (or buy a few sets) they are cheap $30 for a set of 4 with caps. Probably 1/2" NPT.

I think you got the best tractor. Congrats

We don't have a good idea which one you have without you trying it and telling us how it works. Reason for that is that there isn't clear agreement on how either one is defined.
What matters is that your tractor already has something which will work. Use it and see what you like or don't. What you have can always be changed to make it more handy. You are ahead of the game by having something there at all.

It doesn't matter at all. Different systems use male to female adapters of every type. I've even seen them stacked together for no clear reason. You can buy adapters online - I use

Depends. Some are open/close & others use an electric/hydraulic switch to change the function of an existing lever. The best way of all is only slightly more expensive if done originally, and that is to simply have an additional dedicated control valve that always has flow available. You may eventually decide to do that yourself.

What are junk? So far I haven't heard of anything that merits that description. Sounds to me like you have a nifty tractor at a great deal.
BTW, please straighten out that bucket and find the cutting edge... it looks weird bent like that. Every tractor needs a little pride.

I've run a B series Kubota for years, and they're tough as nails.
