B7500 Kubota
I recently purchased new Kubota B7500 4WD with industrial tires and discovered in was useless in mud. The rear tires have fluid with 6 psi air. The new tractor will not do the work of my 2WD Yanmar 1700 in mud. What can I do?

If the mud has a bottom, get some tire chains.

Glenn,
Something's not right with what you describe. I have a B7500 and live in the soggy pacific NW and I have had mine in some incredible mud. Do you have it in low range 4wd? Is this on a steep slope? I have R4's with a BH and loaded tires, so I guess I probably have a little more weight on the backend. Do you have any ballast other than loaded tires? I also run my tires at around 30lbs, because they were slipping on the hub at lower pressure. The only time I have gotten close to being stuck....er "temporarily delayed" /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif was on our sandy beach. I have found that it is not good in soft sand.

Greg -- I think a lot depends on the type of mud. This clayish Vermont mud of mine eats tractors wearing R4s for breakfast so I run only Aggies on my tractors...but others report their R4s clear quickly in mud given similar inflation pressures, loads, etc. The only difference I can think of is the character of the mud.

Pete,
That thought crossed my mind right after I hit the "post" button. I guess I was only speaking from my own experience, which is limited to the soil on my property. Different soils have completely different characteristics, and I suppose there is mud that could have similar characteristics to the sand on our beach, which is treacherous..... especially with an incoming tide.... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Talk to your dealer about trading to R1's. If you need to get on the tractor in the mud, R1's make much more sense.

Go to ag tires. The industrial has to big of a bar on it and cuts down on the psi to penetrate and engage the soil. You are not the first to hit this problem.

Follow Arts advice,I have a set of R-4's in my barn gathering dust,I suffered and endured 1 year with the R-4's and I bit the bullet and bought R-1 tires and rims and have all 4 tires loaded. When I put the R-1 tires on, the tractor set higher etc and it felt like a bigger size tractor, not to mention the increased traction performance.

Old Hickory you only followed part of it as you loaded the front tires. That does put extra stain on the front steering assembly and axle. But I feel you know that, and it is a trade off for what you are doing. There was a post on another site that went into to. You need the narrower sharper angled ag tires to reach into the clay to grab instead of slide.

Hey guys,

I agree with Greg something is wrong with this story. By that I mean something is being missed. Clearly the R-4's have less mud traction than r-1's but they should not be worthless.

Certainly any 4wd should out perform a similar 2wd reagrdless of tire type. Tire size can have a dramatic effect on traction both width and overall height , but if we have two bags of apples here something is just not right.

I suspect that an FEL is being used without proper ballast. MY JD 4700 is a monster in mud when ballasted with even just a 7' blade, sans ballast however and she spins tires when the FEL is FULL.

My new M6800 spins tires on ice with Haaki Ice chains and cast iron discs and 780lbs per tire of CaCl2 solution. when I overload the bucket without rear additional ballast.

Put 700 pounds of ballast in a ballast box, you'll be fine. Unless Greg was right and you are having some type or 4wd problem.

I just bought a B7500 I hope this problem has a simple solution.
