Looking at the B7500. 2000.00$ difference between the HSD and DT model. I don't think I really need the HSD. I'm a little confused about the mid PTO. The dealer told me that there is no mid hook up to the PTO on the DT model, yet when I look at the brochures, a MMM is offered under the HST/DT column. Also, the dealer said the there is only one PTO speed for the DT and again this contradicts what the brochure indicates. Is my dealer wrong, or are the brochures innacurate (or not detailed enough)?

I think your dealer is wrong. I just recently purchased a B7500HST and too looked at the DT. Only difference my manual, which is for the B7500HST/DT and B7400, discusses is the gearing of the DT model.

In regards to DT or HST, does your mowing include navigating obstacles or is it mainly field type. Because if it is navigating obstacles, I found the HST to be indespensable. I had a 12HP gear driven Wheelhorse lawnmower prior to the B7500 purchase, and this 3x larger machine is more nimble than the lawnmower was. Anyways, that is my take on the HST/DT debate.

I'm pretty sure the DT and HST are the same in that regard (PTOs). Likewise with the PTO speed. The B7500 is the only tractor I know of that offers the 2-speed PTO at the rear.

Likewise, I would seriously look at the uses you plan, and make sure you want the DT. For FEL work it is practically a must have. If you're doing serious pulling, the DT might be nice.

Oh, I think when shifting the DT, this dis-engages the PTO. Don't quote me on that though... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Have you shopped around other dealers and tried Carvers site online? I am not familiar with the 7500 prices but $2000 difference on this size tractor sounds steep. I have 2 HST equipped tractors and think it is great. The only time I notice the slight HP loss is reading posts in TBN, not in the operation.
I recently was helping a friend move piles of dirt, his tractor(green with a manual shift) was definitely slower as he had to continually change gears while the HST equipped tractor was nearly always moving.AS previous posts and I'm sure others will follow it's a personal preference thing/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.Good Luck in your search.

I have a B7500HST; originally ordered the geared, but changed it to HST before the order went in.

This added $1,600 to the cost.

Main reason for switching to HST was because I use a front mount snowblower and was told that
the PTO would dis-engaged when the clutch was in. With the HST, the PTO/snowblower will
continue to run even if the tractor is not moving, which I wanted in case I had heavy snow and
needed to "sit" to let the blower clear out.

I also used the FEL to clear two huge hills of foundation dirt. I end up climbing up the hills to
scrape the dirt down and think that this would be very difficult to do with gear.

In the end, I felt it was worth the $1,600 to go to "automatic" versus "manual".

May add more value to it if I ever want to trade up too.

for general overall use i prefer the hydro. so easy to control, but u do loose a few pto hp. depends on what u want to do. for me hydro is the way to go. i would jump up one size to get hsd and get more power, if that is what u need.

I bought my B7500 3 months ago and made the decision to get the HST at the last minute . . . Thank God! Because if I didn't, I'd be trading it in for the HST right about now. Its worth every penny.
