will a B7500 be able to handle a Bush Hog RDTH72 (72" rear discharge finish mower)??? it currently has a 60" MMM but that gets in the way when haying and is a PITA to take on and off.

it is used to mow a large field and around the edges of another, the 60" MMM never seems to bog the engine down enough to say so. and the MMM has to be removed to use the tractor for hay.

the 3 point should be heavy enough (1200# @ 24" behind the pivot for a 580# mower) and the mower says 20-40 hp which the B7500 just makes.

another reason for going with the 72" is so that it can be used on the L3830 if heavier mowing is needed, it will be almost the tire width of the L3830 (74")

Thanks

I use a 60" RFM on my B7510 with a 100lb ballast on front, however, with a 72", you would need probably 200bs of ballast in order to keep the front of the tractor down when lifting the mower. IMO, 72" is a bit too much for a 7500.

I would have to agree...... stick with a 60. It may run a 72 if you always kept the grass manicured well, but for general all around use i think you'd be much happier with a 60 on your tractor.

seems like the consensus is to go with a 60", I will talk to the dealer and see what he says, perhaps we could demo a 72" and see how well it works as compared to the MMM

I was thinking 72" partly because I have run a Exmark Lazer Z-turn which had a 23hp engine and a 72" deck, it seemed to be a good match. OTOH the 21hp on the 7500 while having more lugging power also has to move around a lot more weight.

Thanks

Do a search on member "runner" in the JD section. He ran a 72" rfm on the back of a JD 2520 which is a larger, and heavier machine with more hp than your B7500. He found the weight of the mower pulled him around on the hills even after he added weight to the tractor. He is using a 62" mmm this year, and finds that traction, and stability are better, and time is about a wash.
