My friend has a B7300 that shears the (rear) axle pins when he widens his wheel stance. This continues to be a problem. He assures me that he is placing the proper pins into place, however the hubs are shearing these pins more often than not. Then once the pin shears, the wheel / hub slide to the tractor frame. Has anyone had any experience with this issue, in a manner of resolving the problem?

Could the hubs or axles be worn to the point of allowing too much play (oscillation or reciprocate movement) in the hubs, creating a cut in the shear pin, causing failure of the pin?

Thank you :tiphat:

I had exactly the same problem on my Kubota B7100.

A newer style hub solved the problem.:D :D

Have him check with his dealer on the type of hub he has and if there is an update.:D

For a temporary fix he could wrap the hub with duct tape to hold the pin in place when it breaks. This will keep the wheel in position. He could also place a bolt through one of the inboard axle holes to prevent the wheel from coming all the in to the fender. These are things I did as band aids.:D :D :D

Unfortunately Kubota is not always perfect.:( :(

CRBR,

The two pins are only to space the hub for tread setting before the clamps are tightened. The clamps are tightened by the through bolt with the two dogs that clamp onto the hex axle.

If you don't know what I am talking about, you operator's manual shows them.

If these parts are missing, you can get them from your local Kubota dealer.

Good luck!
