B7100hst temp gage

I am in the process of installing a temp gage on my newly aquired B7100HST. I bought it around Thanksgiving and machine runs. It had showed signs of being overheated in the past with the radiator being repaired. When cleaning the engine up for repaint I noticed that the head was a slightly diferent color than the rest and also showed signs of recently being off the block (new sealant). The engine runs fine and there is no sign of coolant in the oil. I was going to install a fitting into the upper radiator hose but upon looking at the head towards the front there is a screwed in plug with rubber gasket into the water jacket of the head. I have a metric fitting ordered to adapt. My main question is why this head has a coolant fitting in it and what engine it may be off of?

Any thoughts?

My ex B7100HST radiator cap whistle and one could here..maybe new cap might save you trying hook up gage?

I am aware of the whistle but am installing a gage so as to be able to monitor the temp before the whistle blows. Does the cap have a whisle integrated into it or is the whistle seperate?

The whistle is separate.

The port into the head is next to the front injector.

The D750 engine is used on a bunch of different equipment including some Bobcat's. Maybe it's a rebuilt from a unit that needed the port. Maybe Bobcats use the port? It looks nice and shiny unlike my D650.
