Opinions, experience with B7100 circa 1970's? There is a 1000 hr unit for sale near me. Thinking of it as a second unit just for maybe snow plowing (as a plow in front now) and to attach a box blade (have one) and/or york rake (to be obtained), so I can just leave the BH on the B21. The B7100 is a gear unit and the B21 is hydrostatic, but I'm pretty sure, even at my stage, I can deal with that. Maybe.

Nah, depends if they were built for Japan or built for the USA.

They all come from the same Japan factory for the B5000, B6000 and B7000 series (with apperently all the mid-late 1980s models rumored to be built for Japan only).

Not sure if there is a serial number list somewhere that will indicate if it's a USA version or Japanese import.

The infamous "gray market" business? I recall there is a list somewhere, maybe on Kubota USA web site.

No, not grey market. These are not reassembled machines, these are OEM that were imported properly.

I've heard of the Gray Market stuff, but I bought my B7100DT (gear drive) new in 1978. I use it for mowing, box blading and have a pto drive trailer style wood splitter for it. Last week I installed a hydraulic top link on it for the box blade. I also have a CMI 4000 lb gross dump trailer that I can hook up to the back or front of the tractor.
