Tractor
B2910
Tractor is due for hydraulic service, fluid and filters. Can I remove the spin on canister filter below the operators platform on the right (passenger?) side without dropping the linkage that the forward/reverse peddle is connected to, clearance looks very tight.

Any other tips or tricks regarding this service would be appreciated. I am pretty good with a wrench (and hammer) but have never serviced a hydrostatic tractor before.

Thanks,
Dave

I have a 2710, I assume it's the same. My hydraulic filters both came off without removing anything. There are 3 drain plugs for hydraulic fluid, make sure to remove them all. Left and right filters are different part numbers, make sure you get them on the right place. Don't forget to clean the strainer if this is 150 hours.

Should have titled this B7800/B2910/B2710 Hydraulic service for more exposure.

There is a rod on the right hand side that looks like it will prevent the spin on filter from clearing the mount during removal. I don't mind removing the clips and pins to move the rod out of the way but would just as soon not remove if I don't have to.

Thanks,
Dave

The filter on the passenger side can be removed by moving the rod that connects to the forward/reverse pedals up towards the operators platform. You have to angle the filter to clear the rod but it isn't much trouble. The fitting the filter attaches to isn't as long as I imagined it would be.

The screen was harder to break free than the filters. There was a ton of paint on there, the 26mm socket barely fit. Screen was clean except for a few flakes.

All in all pretty easy if not a little messy. Next time I will put down some large cardboard or a tarp. Couldn't imagine paying to have that service done.

Note to self--Measure amout of fluid drained before adding fluid, made more mess trying to drain out the excess (maybe a quart) than I did doing the rest of the work.
