B2910 Glow Plug Light Comes on When Running

My B2910 has about 490 hours on it. Recently the glow plug light has occasionally been randomly coming on while the tractor is running. If I shut the tractor off and then start it again, the light does not come on (other than when the key is in the pre-heat position). The last time this happened my son was driving the tractor. He tried to drive it over to me to show me but engine shut down abruptly while he was driving it. By the time I got to the tractor - a minute or two later - I was able to start it again with no problem, and the light did not stay on or come on again while the tractor was running.

Any idea what might be causing this? Is it a problem to run the tractor with the glow plug light on - i.e., could it damage the engine to run with the glow plugs on?

I have a mitsubishi mt 16fd that did the same thing, it ended up being the ignition switch.

Check where the wires fasten to the glow plugs.

I also vote for the ignition switch. I'd put a meter on the terminal positions and giggle the key, maybe give it a few light thumps, see if continuity is lost.
