Tractor
B2710HST, R4 w/calcium.
I went to my dealer last weekend to look for some implements for my B2100. We were soon hashing out a deal on a new B2710. We are close on the figures, but my biggest concern was how safe the new tractor with a higher center of gravity will be on my terrain. My current B2100 is extremely stable on all my slopes, but I have loaded bar-turf tires with the axles set as wide as they can go and the mid-mount mower. I also use my rear blade for additional counterweight for loader work. The B2710 seems to be about 5" taller and 4" wider with the wheels turned out.(with no adjustable axle) I am going to ask my dealer for an on site demo to determine how safe or unsafe it would be. The tractor would be equipped with loaded R4 tires, 60" mid-mount deck and loader. Sorry about the long post, but safety is paramount in my decision and I figured the good people on this board (such as Bird who made a similar upgrade) might have some input for me.

Thanks,

Mike Masarik

For what it's worth , I would figure that there would not be a big difference in stability between the 2100 and the 2710. The on-site demo and test is the way to go. Some of us who discussed the general limits of side slope operation of our tractors have bought and installed tiltmeters, I have found mine to be very helpful. My B2150 and I are comfortable working on up to a 18 degree side slope, and when I go up to or over 20 degrees I look for a way to get back under 20 fast! Good luck with your 2710!

I owned a B2150 before buying the 2710,My biggest concern was also the stability. Not a problem,I can take the 2710 places I would'nt take the 2150.The 2710 is much more balanced all the way around, and handles like a dream.Hope you work up a trade,I know you'll love the 2710,if you're thinking of a new mid-mount mower also,I would recommend the 72" deck.

Spent a lot of time worrying about the same. From a physics view, it's taller, higher CG with less proportinional increase in track width relative to the B7500. All for not--not even a bit of concern on my hilly property. Superior to any of the L&G tractors I've had/used. agree on the 72" deck (if my dealer ever gets over to take a look at the noise it's making!).

Wear your seat belt!

Mikemas,

In general, when the wheel spacing goes out 4 inches, this would be about the same stability as lowering the cg of the tractor by 2 inches. It doesn't always work out that way. For the height to go up, usually it is a change in the tires that does that rather than the tractor actually being much larger. It is humbling to go look at a Kubota in a crate, before they put the wheels on it. In general the heavier the tractor for the same wheel diameter, the more stable will be the tractor. It takes a lot of wheel diameter increase to offset moving the wheels out 4 inches! Filling the tires with liquid has a very significant effect on the tractor stability (good effect) /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
