A while back, say around Nov. 2001, I started what got to be a rather busy thread entitled "NY Dealers". Today I finally drove 80 miles north from south eastern NY to see what price diffs I could conjure up compared to the 3 or 4 dealers within 50 miles of my place.
1st Stop: the dealer (not to be mentioned by name) upon arrival informed me he no longer carried the Kubota Line. My bad, I shudda called. He did show me a Cub Kadet 7305 and it was a nice machine, but I got orange in my veins nonetheless. I asked him where the nearest Kubota dealer he knew of was. He gave me a name, warned me that the dealer was not very scrupulous (big surprise there) and off I went. This second dealer is 140+ miles from my driveway.
Summing up ... I was surpised at his numbers as they easily beat the local thugs who refuse to move off of list. This was a quick and dirty discussion without me waving my pretty checkbook in his face. I suspect I could even knock him down another coupla hundred bucks.
Here's the breakdown ... chime in with your experences as they relate to these numbers.
2002 B2710: list + prep: 15,500 + 650 = 16,150
LA402 FEL: list + prep: 3,398 + 350 = 3748
16150 + 3,748 = 19,898
His Discount: 3,603 (roughly 18.11%)
Total: 16,295
(Forget the $700 rebate as it ends tommorrow).
Sales Tax here is 7.25% or just under $1,200.
I wanna buy [sic] local to support my state's tax base, etc., but I refuse to part with what I, ME, deem to be a substantial amount of dinero while requiring a competitive price, regardless of locale. Going out of state will not be a difficult decision for me should it come to that. (To quickly reiterate, the locals here want in excess of $2,800 more in their offerings).
