B2710 MMM

I am looking to buy a new B2710 and my dealer is recommending that I buy the 72"MMM and not the 60" MMM.

He is claiming that the 60"MMM is too close in size to the outside width of the wheels.

Do any of you B2710 owners have 60" MMM and how do you like them? What are most of you B2710 owner using for MMM's? I am concerned about the weight of the 72" MMM, since they weigh almost 500lbs.

Any input you be appreciated.

I wouldn't worry about the weight at all. Your tractor will pick it up like it isn't there. The wider the mower, the less maneuverable it will be and the harder it will be for it to conform to not quite flat lawn. If you are talking about mowing reasonably flat, relatively wide open spaces, then bigger is better.

Our first Compact was a B-2150 which had a 60" MMM,sold it and bought a B-2710 with the 72" MMM.No comparison,buy the 72" deck,you will not be sorry.The wider deck actually did a better job of mowing and the finish cut was more level than the narrower deck.As far as maneuverability,the wider the deck,the smaller circle you can cut.

I know it's a little more money,but it's worth it.

I have the 72” mower on my 2910. It is a great mower. The biggest problem I have with it is getting close to an object that has an overhang like pine trees. Even with the 72” there is not enough of the mower sticking out from the side to not require trimming. The 60” mower will make this worse. Going around 2 acres of trees with my trimmer is getting very tiresome in the heat we have this summer.
My 72” mower is great for the open areas of my lawn. It is very maneuverable in most tight places. My property was landscaped when I had a 48” mower. This has cause a problem with the 72” mower. It will not fit through the narrow areas. Over the last 3 years I have made changes to the landscape to solve this problem.
Another problem with the 27-2910 sized tractors is the ROP’s is high. It will interfere with low hanging trees and other items. I have a folding ROP’s that I use in the down position to cut my lawn.

Depending on tires, you are very close to them with a 60" mower. The 72" will give you a tighter circle, and more overhang to put under tree's and over walks edges and gardens. The only problem would be going thru constricted areas like tree's to close together, between buildings garden area and the likes. There is ample power to run both with excellent longevity with Kubota's drive belt being like two in one and run on cast iron pulleys like the best commercial mowers are.

I have the 72" on my 2910 and recommend for the same reasons the others have stated..... In addition, it is easier to remove and install than the 60" and easier to move around on the ground when it is off the tractor. This is because the 72" has four equal-sized 30 degree rotating caster wheels--one one each corner of the deck. The 60" has only two rotating caster wheels and about 4 antiscalp wheels that don't rotate. Therefore, the 72" will roll freely when being pulled sideways for removal and installation on the tractor, and will roll around freely when off the tractor. The 60" will have to be dragged and slid on its anti-scalp wheels, which is more difficult.... Finally, with the 72" deck you can remove and install it by driving right over it instead of pulling it sideways. I don't believe you can do that with the 60".
