I have a B2710 with FEL that I will be taking with me to New Mexico from Virginia. As transportation costs are by weight I was wondering whether I should empty the liquid from the tires to reduce the weight and then refill them upon arrival. But then I starting thinking about whether or not I really needed to refill the tires.

What would happen if I don't have liquid in the tires? Would the whole thing collapse when using the FEL? I have a dump bucket on the back. What if I filled that with cement blocks or something heavy, or added extra weights somewhere else?

You can probably tell I'm a novice. Your advice would be welcome.

You can have a tire shop or tractor dealer remove the fluid. Of course, then you will have to use a weight box or some other heavy appliance on the rear to counterbalance the loader. I bet you will like the tractor better without the fluid. J

Before you pay to remove and reinstall the fluid in the tires, you might want to find out what a tire store would charge to do that. Then find out how much the fluid weighs and check with the shipping company to see how much that weight will increase the transportation cost. I doubt if it will make enough difference to warrant all the extra trouble of having the tires drained.

Tractorsmart.com has a chart with weight of filled tires on their website under "Technical" heading. You can get a rough idea what your filled tires weigh there.

A couple of thoughts. Call the moving company and find out the cost for moving an oversized item. Ask if the weight is then included in the overall bill. Almost like double billing. You might find that the costs are not really that great.

If you have the fluid removed watch out for having to pay a hazmat disposal fee. It depends on the fluid and the dealer.

From a personal experience note, make sure your moving contract is binding and that there can be no other charges levied against you. We moved from the Mid-west to the Northeast and when the Mayflower truck got here they refused to unload until I paid $1,000 more. They claimed I added meight to our load after the salesman made an estimate. Not true.....in fact we shed many pounds before the move. Anyway, the Maine AG got involved and I got a refund after a while. Watch the scam artists out there!

I would think that for the amount of money to remove and reinstall that it would be cheaper to leave it in instead of removing and installing.
