Kubota B2650
Just recently ordered a B2650 open station, 60 inch bucket, the BH77 backhoe with 16" bucket and thumb, 63 inch front mount snow blower, and some PFL3048 forks since apparently they were cheaper than the 2042 I had originally requested. Hoping to use it on a little over 10 acres. Have about a 750ft of driveway for snow in the winter, about 3 acres of fields, and 5 acres of forest that I'd like to build out some trails, a small pond that I'm thinking the backhoe might help clean up, and around 2 acres of grass that I handle with a zero turn.

I will say I struggled quite a bit back and forth shopping around between the B, L, and Grand L series along with equivalents from other brands. That and whether I wanted to pay for the cab or not. I really wanted something without any of the DPF complications, a backhoe, and a front mount snow blower. I really wish Kubota had the L2501 size option with a mid pto. I looked quite a bit at John Deere and LS since there were dealers relatively close. There were multiple John Deere dealers but honestly no one ever got back to me with official quotes when I requested information. The LS dealer was awesome, but there was only the one and he was running a smaller shop a bit further away than I wanted.

It's still in the process of being sourced and built out but I had a couple questions. First, I was disappointed to read that the seat will get replaced with no suspension because of the backhoe option? I read a few thread about potential fixes but is it really that terrible? I've also heard that rim guard isn't recommended with the backhoe per the manual, but that most people still opt for it? Lastly, I've been shopping a trailer for this setup. Does an 18ft beaver tail style car hauler make the most sense? If possible I'd like to get the most functional trailer that I could use for hauling materials when needed as well.

Either way, looking forward to being able to get some projects done around here this spring yet.

Re: B2650 Ordered,

You will like it. I have similar B3300 setup and it has been very good. You will Not regret getting BH. I understand on your decision process.

My two cents on your questions: seat not a big deal to me, but having said that, I bought a used Massey 1540 for other three point tasks and it is comfortable for extended use like brushhog work. I think one reason the Kubota seat does not bother me is i get on and off it a lot for various BH FEL jobs/chores. I like the flip spin seat. Having the second tractor keeps the Kubota with BH always attached.

My rears are filled...has been discussed on the site various times...no problems.

I have 7k Appalachian car hauler I really like. Capped ramps are really nice. My only minor regret is I did not get a 10k 20 which at the time was only 3-4 hundred more. But you will be fine with 18 for your setup and I am fine with mine. But smaller than that no, larger yes.

Lol, now your projects will get larger too! Enjoy the tractor...

Correct, but tell them you do want the turntable seat bracket that you paid for. It is a 15 minute swap. I ended up just putting the suspension back on and I sit on the seat back. Yes, a solid mounted seat is "that bad" when your out mowing. I hated the backhoe seat mount, it beat me to death on the rutted pasture while hogging, and I put a metric crap ton more hours on the machine NOT doing backhoe work.... So I would rather deal with sitting on the seat back while using the backhoe 5 hours a year than sitting on a solid seat the other 230 hours of the year.

I've also heard that rim guard isn't recommended with the backhoe per the manual, but that most people still opt for it?

I have the oversized rims and tires and over 700 lbs of Rim Guard in my rears, I am over 300 hours now in about 14 months since new. No issues. My dealer told me that they always do Rim Guard, no matter if backhoe or not. Never saw an issue. I wouldn't do it any other way because of where I live. What other people call hills, I call flat ground.

Lastly, I've been shopping a trailer for this setup. Does an 18ft beaver tail style car hauler make the most sense? If possible I'd like to get the most functional trailer that I could use for hauling materials when needed as well.

I have a 24.5' flatbed equipment trailer and a 7'x16' dovetailed 7K lb gross utility. Both work fine, the 16' is tight with the backhoe, I back on and set the backhoe bucket on the spare tire that is mounted to the front wall with 2"x2"x0.25" tube. I would need an 18' utility to load with the backhoe pinned straight and in the travel position. With the 24.5 foot, I can chain the box blade and rear to the loader and load them on the front, strap them down and then back the tractor on and take multiple tools to a job site. Longer is better if you need to move more than just what is attached. If you only need the attached items, your 18' will likely suffice... barely. 20' would be a better choice.

Thanks for the information. I called and made sure to include the filled tires. Then I wavered a minute and ended up getting the most expensive tractor seat upgrade available (decided to get the cab version). I'll look at the 20' and larger trailers a bit as well and see where that goes.

Congrats on your new investment.
Check to see if you need rear spacers if you decide to use rear tire chains.

Had it delivered last Friday and love it so far. Need to build a dolly for the backhoe and still track down a trailer. Ground is still pretty soft along with standing water in some parts so although I can get around the property, doing anything right now really tears it up.

If I every buy another tractor, I would definitely look at the B2650 or the L2501. The B that you ordered looks great.

Good luck with it.
